Exciting update! ???? FCS received a grant that evolved into a collaboration with Atlanta Public Schools (APS) and the Atlanta Braves to empower neighborhoods and strengthen our local schools! Through a redirected $100K grant to Atlanta Public Schools, this partnership is upgrading the baseball and softball fields at Carver High School, including a new covered batting cage and more improvements on the way. These improvements reflect our holistic, neighbor-focused approach to revitalization, creating spaces for young athletes to grow and excel. FCS mission is to partner with under-resourced neighborhoods to provide innovative and holistic development that produces flourishing communities. Thanks to Pinnacle Financial Partners for giving us (Melissa Turner and me) the opportunity to come alongside and partner with such a dynamic and impactful organization in South Atlanta.

As the weather turned crisp and the leaves began to fall, we gathered for our annual Breakfast on the Block—a cherished time to connect with neighbors, celebrate our community’s successes, and honor those who make Historic South Atlanta thrive. This year, we proudly presented the Florida Ellis Community Champion Award to Ms. Maggie McCullom, and the FCS Lifetime Achievement Award to The Haygood Family –two dedicated leaders who have tirelessly worked to uplift our neighborhood. Last winter, our Director of Economic Development, Jeff Delp, joined the REDF Accelerator Cohort on Employee Success Programs, and recently, REDF sponsored a visit for some FCS staff to connect with fellow workforce development leaders. Some of our staff visited Beautiful Day, Havenly, and Sanctuary Kitchen, gaining valuable insights and building community around workforce success!
