President Lisette Nieves will join a powerful group of leaders at Lehman College tomorrow, March 20, for a Women’s Herstory Month Celebration that will uplift stories of resilience, innovation, and authenticity in leadership!
Honored to join a powerful group of leaders at Lehman College tomorrow, March 20, for a Women’s Herstory Month Celebration that will uplift stories of resilience, innovation, and authenticity in leadership. As someone shaped by early lessons in advocacy and community organizing—from rent strikes in Flatbush to public service in NYC—I believe leadership is not just about what you do, but what you help others to achieve. I look forward to sharing space and conversation with Hon. Lumarie Maldonado, Joselyn Carter, Imelda Tavas, and our moderator Paloma Hernandez as we explore the legacies we’re building and the women leaders we’re empowering. Grateful to be part of this important dialogue and to reflect on what it means to lead with purpose, across sectors, and in service of lasting change.

“It is really this simple: New York could not function without the nonprofit sector.”?–?Lisette Nieves, President, Fund for the City of New York In her latest article, "A Marshall Plan for the Nonprofit Sector,"?published in Vital City, President Lisette Nieves makes a powerful case for urgent and sustained investment in the nonprofit sector—an essential pillar of New York’s economy and social fabric. At the Fund for the City of New York, we are committed to strengthening this sector by providing direct support to nonprofits—helping them build financial sustainability, leverage data for impact, and navigate complex funding structures. As Lisette emphasizes, nonprofits are not just service providers; they are the backbone of our city. Yet, they remain underfunded and expected to do more with less. It’s time for a shift in how we invest in and support the organizations that keep New York thriving. ?? Our President, Lisette Nieves, offers powerful insights on leadership, cross-sector collaboration, and the idea that "work is a microcosm of society" in this must-watch discussion. A special thank you to Natasha Nuytten for hosting this engaging conversation! #Leadership #Collboration
Thrilled to have joined Natasha Nuytten on Human Side Up for a conversation about leadership, workforce innovation, and what it means to build real impact. We talked about everything from expanding The Fund for the City of New York to $100M to lending $1.3 billion in interest-free financing to NYC nonprofits—and why true leadership is about bringing people together, across sectors, to create change. One idea we explored: Your best work isn’t about what you do—it’s about what you enable others to do. The power of cross-sector collaboration lies in unlocking talent, aligning opportunities, and ensuring that systemic change is sustainable. Listen here:?https://lnkd.in/eqG8fxHD
