Asset tags may be tiny, but they play an outsize role in making efficient use of things that move around in a building or on a campus, such as medical devices, warehouse equipment, and mobile computers. Healthcare facilities are under tremendous pressure to provide high quality care while using assets and resources efficiently. So when University Medical Centre Utrecht (UMC) in Utrecht, The Netherlands, started looking for an asset tracking solution, they had a long list of requirements. Asset tracking enables employees to quickly locate and get a status on all sorts of equipment, from ventilators to thermometers, no matter where they are on campus. Accessing needed equipment not only saves lives, but helps reduce inventory costs by ensuring items are intelligently located across the facility. UMC Utrecht’s requirements included easy installation, low maintenance, suitability for medical settings, high location accuracy, ability to add and support many types of devices, and scalability. They also wanted to be able to easily add future use cases such as temperature or CO2 monitoring. The facility chose FCL Components USB dongles, FWM8BLZ08T tags, and Z08 anchors, which use self-healing Wirepas mesh network connectivity and deploy without cabling. The slim FWM8BLZ08T tags also feature panic button technology, so they can be used for workers to quickly summon help to their exact location. FCL Components FWMBLZ23 Bluetooth 5.3 wireless radio module was designed to do just that. It’s a drop-in replacement to our popular FWM7BLZ20B module. The quality of FCL Components Clear Film V2 could not be more clear—literally. We developed Clear Film V2 to bring virtually the same level of clarity to resistive touch panels that you see on PCAP panels with a glass substrate. That means the surface feels very similar to that of a smartphone when flicking, swiping, or performing dual touch operations, and it doesn’t have the “catch” that sometimes happens when using less smooth surfaces. Images are less distorted too. In fact, clarity is 102%—about 2% better than conventional clear film and much better than the 35% offered by non-glare film on resistive touch panels.
