Congratulations to the entire West End Community on the Halloween day ribbon cutting ceremony that marks the opening of their new PK-12 school and playground. The communities of Naturita and Nucla Colorado came together in 2021 to pass a bond to make their match to their awarded CDE BEST grant. It was an honor for Hord Coplan Macht to serve this community as their architect. We are very proud of this transformational project. None of this could of happened without the West End School District’s Leasdership, thank you and congratulations to Clint Wytulka and Mike Epright. This was a fun project, one where life long relationships were forged. It was a pleasure to work with our design team; Uncompahgre Engineers, JVA, Inc. , Columbine Engineering, Inc. , Group14 Engineering, PBC, our construction partner FCI Constructors, Inc., our Owner’s Rep &Artaic Group, and our CDE Rep Meg Griffin Donaldson. Personally, I need to thank everyone at Hord Coplan Macht. Located in the center of the Town of Florence, Padilla Park’s Splash Pad was hidden and unassuming. After completing our second large project for Pinal County, right in Florence, FCI Project Manager, Phil Schreiber was approached by Town officials and asked for assistance to improve this Splash Pad?before their 10th Anniversary celebration. Phil then worked with the Town to decide on appropriate improvements and coordinated the purchases.

For the past five years, FCI has supported the Town Of Frederick, Colorado, in their Halloween event, Tiny Terror Town, featuring local vendors and businesses, a dog costume contest, and haunted house, right in downtown Frederick. This year, we handed out over 1,500 pieces of candy to the little witches and superheroes, who are celebrating the spooky season in style.

We turned FCI's parking lot into a giant BBQ pit for our third annual BBQ cook-off on Friday. FCI employees, eleven teams, competed making St. Louis style ribs this year. It was a beautiful day with delicious food and good vibes.

It’s fantastic to hear about Vaisala's US Headquarters achieving its net-zero potential! The collaboration with JVA, Inc. DCI Engineers, and FCI Constructors, Inc. to design and build the building to anticipate a photovoltaic system highlights the importance of planning for sustainability from the outset. This achievement sets an excellent example for future projects and contributes to the significant environmental responsibility expectations set forth by Vaisala. Last week I had the opportunity to tour the Pagosa Hot Springs Expansion project that FCI Constructors, Inc. is managing. I was throughly impressed with the cooperative efforts by both the GC and Owner to focus on utilizing local subs. In fact, ALL the stone work in the new tubs (pictured below) are being completed by a local contractor who is a Pagosa Springs High School graduate. And that's just one trade! Not only is it nice to see and makes you feel warm and fuzzy. The focus on "local" is imperative in our small corner of the world. I commonly refer to the Four Corners Region as an "island" which I feel accurately portrays the locale as well as the attitude. Here on our "island" we support and lookout for the success and future of our fellow island dwellers. This jobsite had community members everywhere, and that's cool!

Monday marked the first of many City Council meetings in the new City Hall, built for the City of Northglenn. The City thoughtfully recognized all the team players who made the new building possible, and welcomed the community in with a celebration of the accomplishment of the second phase of Northglenn's Civic Center Master Plan. As a net-zero, CORE-certified facility, the City was determined to lead the way in sustainability and efficiency for the future of its citizens. Congratulations, and thank you to the City and the team that made this incredibly courageous vision a reality.
