Higher education institutions are taking advantage of common areas that encourage student engagement beyond their lectures. “By creating different types of student spaces in the common areas of a hall, we are giving students the ability to sit down and study, have some quiet time in comfortable spaces outside of their dorms and connect in a group setting with other students who share the same interests and goals.” - Kelly Jernigan, Director of Colorado Springs Office

Last Friday marked a significant milestone for the Albuquerque International Support Concessions, Checkpoint and TSA Renovations (otherwise known as the?Dream of Flight?renovation). The team celebrated the relocation of the beloved?Dream of Flight?sculpture, the project’s namesake, to its new home with a topping out event. The Lincoln Fox sculpture, which depicts an indigenous man being lifted into the sky by an eagle, represents everything this project stands for—culture, imagination and endless possibility! Back in March, Meghan Davis, an Intern Architect at FBT, volunteered to be a Special Awards Judge at the Central NM STEM Research Challenge. What she initially thought was an opportunity to give back to the community quickly became a transformational experience that altered her perspective and presented a life lesson we can all learn from. The Jicarilla Community Wellness Center provides critical amenities that improve the wellbeing of the Jicarilla Apache Nation community. The project incorporates a fully-equipped natatorium with three pools, a multi-use gymnasium with sports and recreation courts, an upper level running track, an eight-lane Bowling Alley with a Youth Center and a Multipurpose Event Center. These amenities are all organized around a "light-filled, accessible concourse which steps down the site," maximizing scenic views to the surrounding landscape and San Juan mountains. #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #DesignforWellbeing
