关于我们

The Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation (FBBCF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit committed to improving the lives of children in the Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey area. We achieve this by providing necessary financial relief for the families of fallen or critically injured first responders and cultivating positive relationships and interactions between police officers and the children in the communities they serve. Founded in 2007, the Families Behind the Badge Children's Foundation was created to better allocate and manage the funds raised from the legendary The Ben to The Shore Bike Tour, a 65-mile bicycle ride from Philadelphia to Atlantic City. Established in 1988, the bike ride started with 20 cyclists the first year and has grown to 2,500 riders, raising $1.1 million in 2019. This ride has become a summer staple in the Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey community. Throughout the first 20 years of The Ben to The Shore Bike Tour, money raised went to a variety of worthy causes in the community. In 2007, after several Philadelphia Police Officers were killed in the line of duty, the organization made a change in the focus of its funding by putting a greater emphasis on supporting families of our fallen officers while still supporting local children in the communities that these first responders serve.

  • Special thank you to Garnet Hathaway and the Philadelphia Flyers Charities for hosting some of our beneficiary families at their Carnival yesterday! It was a wonderful day full of smiles and memories made. We’d also like to thank Garnet for his continued support to FBBCF through his Hath’s Heroes program. We’re fortunate to have Garnet here in Philly who wholeheartedly supports our incredible first responders and pays tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our communities.

  • With wildfires raging in California - the strength, bravery, and sacrifice of our firefighting community has received international recognition and appreciation. We continue our mission of providing mental and emotional wellbeing resources to our incredible first responder community by presenting at the Mental Health Workshop at the Philadelphia Fire Department! The workshop was organized by Thomas Kane of the PFD and our good friends, Steve Cohen & Dr. Melissa Rice, as part of the First Responder Suicide Prevention Symposium project. The workshop featured sessions on signs and symptoms of mental health challenges, peer support, and active listening sessions. We sponsored Jennifer Boileau's sessions on iRest meditation and self care. We commend the PFD's commitment to providing mental and emotional support for the men and women of the department and look forward to working together on future programs!
