Have you checked your gutters? Dry leaves and debris in your gutters act as kindling, so it's better to clean them thoroughly and often. One loose ember that flies into a clogged gutter can ignite a fire that spreads to your roof, lawn, and trees in seconds. Just regularly clearing out your gutters. Stuffed gutters can lead rainwater to have no where to go. This can cause water to spill over the edges, which can lead to basement flooding, mold growth, foundation flooding, and structural damage.? ???? Cleaning out your gutters for dead leaves, soot, and brush might not be the most exciting task. Have you heard about the wildfires in Long Island? ?? ??People might be quick, but sometimes, nature moves faster. Multiple bushfires have broken out across Long Island, prompting action from firefighters and reaction from on-lookers. ???? Dry conditions and gusty winds have fueled this fire. However, since then, the brush fires have been spreading rapidly. Which, in turn, has threatened homes and caused road closures. The thick smoke has created hazardous air conditions that have impacted local communities. ????? As wildfires become more and more common, it serves as a reminder to all of us that preparedness is the cornerstone of resilience. At Faura, we believe in resilience through preparation. Here at Faura, we know that preparing properly is the backbone of disaster resiliance. However…recent federal layoffs are putting Texa’s resiliance to the test. ????? ?With hurricane season just three months away, these cuts are raising serious concerns among disaster recovery agencies. Without Fema and other agencies being fully staffed, Texas’s ability to respond effectively to these disasters is brought into question. ?? As storms become more numerous and frequent, there might not be enough funding to rebuild and strengthen communities. Since 2017, Texas has received 18.6 billion dollars in funding from FEMA.
