The true serverless database that helps companies ship faster and scale smarter.

关于我们

Fauna is a fully serverless operational database that empowers teams to ship applications faster. It combines JSON flexibility with relational power, offering strong consistency, low latency, and seamless scalability—without the complexity of manual provisioning, sharding, or replication. Over 80,000 development teams choose Fauna to build and scale modern transactional applications including teams from Tyson Foods, Unilever, Lexmark, Intelliculture, Hannon Hill, Cloaked, DTLR, and Insights.gg. Backed by premier venture investors Madrona Venture Group, ADDITION, GV (Google Ventures), and CRV, Fauna is headquartered in San Mateo with an experienced leadership team hailing from Microsoft, Okta, Twitter, Amazon, and Cloudera.

In a recent podcast with Serverless Guru, Kirk Kirkconnell explained how Fauna’s multi-active architecture ensures high availability and optimal performance - with zero infrastructure operations required. Data in Fauna is automatically replicated across at least three regions, ensuring fault tolerance and built-in failover. At the same time, Fauna's intelligent routing directs transactions to the closest available endpoint - ensuring the lowest possible latency. As an important bonus - whether you’re in the US, Europe, or beyond, all reads and writes are strongly consistent. ?? What do we mean by 'truly serverless'? When talking about serverless architectures, most think of ephemeral functions or edge workloads that spin up on demand. But what happens when we need to store and manage data? Unlike functions, data must persist—so how can a database be “truly serverless” if it must maintain state? Matt Henderson tackles this question and proposes a definition: A truly serverless database automates and abstracts away all deployment, infrastructure, and vendor-specific considerations—requiring no upfront or ongoing intervention. It should simply “just work.” Check out the full blog to learn what makes Fauna truly serverless here: https://lnkd.in/g93vH-Y6

We just published a deep dive authored by Cleve S. covering everything from local Docker builds and schema enforcement with Fauna Schema Language (FSL) to automating migrations and tests in CI/CD pipelines. Cleve breaks down best practices for consolidating business logic in user-defined functions (UDFs), spinning up a local environment for rapid prototyping, and integrating backward compatibility checks into your CI workflow—ensuring you never miss a breaking change. ?? ?? "In my opinion, the most outstanding feature of Fauna is its query language, FQL. We can write queries that perform multiple operations as if we were writing Dart code and send them to Fauna. Fauna then executes all the requested operations and returns the desired object."

The database is one of the most important layers of our projects. Although Firebase is commonly used for Flutter applications, I believe Fauna Inc. is a fantastic alternative. I’ve been using Fauna for many years and have never encountered any issues. As I mentioned in previous posts, I’m migrating all of Birikim’s queries to the new version of Fauna. The experience has been far better than I expected. In my opinion, the most outstanding feature of Fauna is its query language, FQL. We can write queries that perform multiple operations as if we were writing Dart code and send them to Fauna. Fauna then executes all the requested operations and returns the desired object. In the diagram, I illustrated a scenario where the user updates their email address. Under normal circumstances, all operations can be performed without using an API. However, for security reasons, I handle critical operations through an API, while the rest of the operations are carried out directly by communicating with Fauna from the application. I highly recommend checking out Fauna. Its free tier is more than sufficient for many projects. #flutter #dart #birikim #fauna

"It (Fauna) removes the most painful part (in my opinion) of the relational database, which is the operation. As a developer looking to just develop, it gives me the abstractions and tools I need to develop the data store my app needs, without having to worry so much about how I will operate, patch, and scale the database."
