In April, FGKS Law issued a Client Alert regarding the DOL’s rule increasing the salary threshold for exempt employees under the FLSA. A federal court has now vacated the rule, finding that the DOL exceeded its authority. As a result, the salary threshold for exempt employees reverts to the previous minimum salary, and the scheduled increases are void. Last week, FGKS Law attorney Phil Borger presented to students during Tipp City Schools’ career day at L.T. Ball Intermediate School. During the seven sessions, the kids performed a mock trial of the Big Bad Wolf v. Curly Pig to better understand the role of lawyers in the judicial system. The kids were respectful, attentive, and asked great questions!

Less than two weeks back from maternity leave and I am back on my presentation game! I had a great time today speaking with the attendees at the Edison State Workforce Development & Work-Based Learning HR Summer Symposium. We discussed some of the recent changes to employment laws at the federal and state level (including the Department of Labor's increase to the salary threshold for exempt employees - phase one of which went into effect last month on July 1, 2024).
