关于我们

Center Mission Our mission is to promote emotional well-being through a variety of free and low-cost programs. At the Faulk Center for Counseling, we provide a warm, accepting and confidential environment where people who are dealing with life’s problems are helped to make changes or to cope more effectively with things that they cannot change. Since 1973 the Center has provided counseling services to people of all ages at its facility on Boca Rio Road and at outreach locations throughout Palm Beach and Broward counties. Mental health services are provided by graduate students pursuing master’s degrees or doctoral degrees in psychology, social work or mental health counseling, as well as clinical volunteers who hold advanced degrees in a mental health field. All graduate students and volunteers are trained and supervised by the Center’s staff of licensed psychologists. Center History Dr. Elizabeth H. Faulk, the first woman to receive a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Florida, established a successful private practice in Boca Raton. In 1970 she founded the Elizabeth H. Faulk Foundation, a nonprofit charitable foundation, with this objective: “to provide free and low-cost psychological and mental health consultation services to the needy.” In 1973 she established the Center for Group Counseling, the service arm of the Foundation, to ensure that no one would be denied services because of an inability to pay. In 2013, to reflect its 40 years of growth and expansion of services beyond the group model, the “Center for Group Counseling” became known as the “Faulk Center for Counseling.” In doing so, the Board of Trustees took the opportunity to honor its founder, Dr. Elizabeth Faulk. The Center is located in Boca Raton on Boca Rio Road (south of Palmetto Park Road) in a custom-designed two-story, 16-sided building, which symbolizes the circle of group therapy. The Center provides counseling, therapy, and support to 2,000 clients each year.

  • Donor Spotlight: The Faulk Center for Counseling is proud to spotlight the Boca West Children's Foundation (BWCF) — a dedicated champion for children and families in our community. Since its founding in 2010, BWCF has contributed millions in support to local children’s charities, providing critical resources to support at-risk youth and their families throughout Palm Beach County. Our partnership with Boca West Children's Foundation has been nothing short of transformative. Through their generous support, the Faulk Center has expanded access to free and low-cost mental health services, ensuring that uninsured and underserved individuals receive the care they need. From individual and couples counseling to group therapy and support groups, BWCF’s contributions have helped eliminate financial barriers so no one is denied support during life’s most challenging moments. This impact is made possible in part by the vision and leadership of Pamela Weinroth, Executive Director of BWCF. A long-time Boca Raton resident and respected community leader, Pamela has been instrumental in strengthening the foundation’s partnerships—both with the Faulk Center and with other nonprofits. Her extensive background in nonprofit fundraising and community service continues to drive BWCF’s mission of improving the lives of children and families. Boca West Children's Foundation's unwavering commitment to promoting emotional wellness aligns closely with the Faulk Center’s values, and their support has enabled us to create a safe, welcoming space where individuals can find healing, hope, and connection. Whether funding vital programs or advocating for mental health awareness, BWCF stands as a beacon of compassion and action. Looking ahead, we are excited to continue building on this partnership to ensure every child and family in our community has access to the emotional support and mental health resources they deserve. Together, we are breaking barriers, transforming lives, and shaping brighter futures. "Our mission thrives because of the incredible partnerships we’ve built with organizations and individuals who share our vision. Together, we are not only supporting children in need but also creating opportunities that empower them to dream, achieve, and build brighter futures. It’s a testament to what we can accomplish when we come together with passion and purpose." ~Pamela Weinroth

Meet Our Board Cindy Winter -- #Treasurer #Q: How long have you served on the board? #A: I have served on the board since 2018. #Q: What inspired you to become involved with the Faulk Center for Counseling? #A: It all started when a close friend of mine went through a tough time, and I realized I did not know much about mental health. It hit me that mental health issues touch almost everyone at some point in our lives, directly or indirectly. That realization sparked a deep curiosity and a desire to make a difference. #Q: What unique perspective or expertise do you bring to the board? #A: I'd have to say my background in financial literacy coupled with a genuine care for people. Understanding the financial aspect of running an organization like Faulk Center, along with a heartfelt commitment to its mission, allows me to contribute in a meaningful way. ? #Q: Is there a particular aspect of mental health advocacy or awareness that you are particularly passionate about or focused on? #A: When it comes to mental health advocacy, my passion lies particularly in families and children. There is just so much to be aware of in today's world, from the challenges posed by technology and bullying to issues like abuse and substance misuse. Navigating these waters is crucial for the well-being of our youngest generation. #Q: Can you share a memorable experience or achievement during your time as a board member? #A: As a board member, one memorable achievement that stands out is during the challenging times of the pandemic, we never once reduced our services, even when mental health support was more crucial than ever. Another highlight was the installation of our elevator, making our facilities more accessible and inclusive. ? #Q: How do you envision the organization's growth or future direction in addressing mental health challenges? #A: In envisioning the organization's growth and future direction, our focus remains on expanding our capacity to serve. The need for mental health support keeps growing, so we're exploring avenues like increasing school services and looking into accepting insurance for payments. It's all about meeting the demand head-on. #Q: How do you personally prioritize mental health and well-being in your life? #A: On a personal level, prioritizing mental health and well-being is essential to me. I find solace and rejuvenation through physical activities like Yoga and regular walks. They are not just exercises for the body, but also for the mind and soul, helping me maintain balance in a busy world.
