Fathom is building critical infrastructure for a skills-based labor market. Its Workforce Wallet enables job seekers to track and translate their knowledge, skills, and work experience into industry-aligned taxonomies and credentials, driving more personalized career navigation and job placement opportunities. Complementing the Wallet, the Workforce Dashboard equips workforce organizations with tools to view and validate worker activity, automate compliance reporting, and redirect over a third of staff’s time to service delivery for job seekers and employers. Together, they form the foundation of Fathom’s Workforce Operating System (WOS)—a transformative platform powered by talent recognition software. Fathom’s founding team has secured over $1M in local workforce contracts, are Techstars alumni, and are recipients of the National Science Foundation‘s I-Corps grant. The team also recently completed its first federal contract with the Department of Labor and NSF and is piloting its platform across ten counties in southwest Virginia.

… still unprepared for the future of digital identity? The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)’s SP 800-63-4 updates are game-changers for the future of digital identity, and for any company serious about leading their industry by 2030, this is an opportunity to seize. From what I’m seeing, there is new guidance on #passkeys, digital #wallets, and stronger anti-fraud controls, these updates set a new standard for secure, accessible, and trusted #identity verification. I think for companies aiming to set the bar, this isn’t just a compliance checkbox—it’s a chance to differentiate. #Inclusivity and #security for ecosystems can now go beyond traditional methods. The future of work belongs to those who see these shifts not just as requirements but as strategic advantages. Fathom PBC will lead the way in redefining how talent is verified, validated, and valued. #DigitalIdentity #FutureOfWork #NIST #TalentRecognition #Innovation #FathomYourReality #DecentralizedIdentity #IdentityManagement #WorldofWork #Blockchain #AI #Technology

Reflecting on Techstars, I want to take a moment to express my deep appreciation for our incredible mentor team: Jane Oates, Ananth Kasturiraman, Kate Ballinger, Amy Nelson, Kelly Roark, and Charlotte Creech. From the very beginning of Mentor Madness, my team approached the process a bit differently. We used our pitch as a conversation starter to better understand how mentors would react, give feedback on their feet, and to gauge their depth of domain expertise in workforce development. The amount of feedback we received from all the mentors was overwhelming (in the best way), but you six stood out as our top matches. You were exactly who we hoped to learn from and you didn’t disappoint. At every touchpoint, you provided critical insights that moved the needle for us. Whether helping us de-risk Fathom PBC for investors through our pilot customers, introducing us to major players in our market, or recommending key KPIs to shape our product strategy and customer journey, your advice consistently shifted our timeline to success. More than anything, your belief in what we’re building meant the most. Each of you is directly tied to workforce, edtech, and HR tech, and your knowledge of what works—and what doesn’t—has been an invaluable source of guidance. To all the founders and entrepreneurs out there: while I had mentors before joining Techstars, I didn’t fully grasp the value they bring until the Techstars experience. If you haven’t already, seek out mentors who operate in your space. Having someone who understands your challenges and can help you navigate them is vital—not just to expedite your success but to increase your chances of achieving it. For anyone in workforce (edtech, hrtech, talent management, etc.), I strongly encourage you to connect with these mentors. And if you’re looking for an accelerator program, definitely check out the Techstars Workforce Development Accelerator. Dave Cass and Sasha Green will get you right.

Techstars Mentor Madness was another transformational experience for our team at Fathom PBC. Over the course of seven days, we had the opportunity to pitch to nearly 60 mentors, each conversation lasting 20 minutes. Here's what we gained: 1. Valuable Feedback: Mentors provided critical insights on our pitch deck, narrative, and overall business strategy. 2. Engagement Insight: We got to see how mentors interact with our team, helping us gauge their fit for our mentor team. 3. Business Perspectives: We received feedback on scaling our team, managing our product’s technical scope, and enhancing customer satisfaction and user experience. We also learned some impactful mental models: * Four Areas of Risk: Problem, value proposition, solution, and distribution. * Focus Framework: Choosing three key areas to focus on daily (for me, sales, funding, and product) and delegating the rest. While our goal was to establish our mentor team for Techstars, we also built a coalition of supporters, funders, and partners. Many mentors offered to introduce us to investors, customers, and strategic partners. A huge thank you to the mentors who shared their time and expertise. Your support is propelling Fathom forward in our mission! Extra special thanks to the Techstars Workforce Development Accelerator team, Dave Cass, Sasha Green, Kiana Mendes, and Kelly Mosher for facilitating a perfect execution! Y'all killed it. Finally, thank to my team, Julie Dunlap, John Morales-Marquez and Marvin Smith for ensuring we were prepared to maximize this learning opportunity. #GiveFirst #Fathom #Techstars #MentorMadness #Startups #Founders #Entrepreneurs #WorkforceDevelopment #FutureOfWork #StartupJourney #ThankYouMentors

Reflection Reflecting on the first week of the Techstars Workforce Development Accelerator it’s clear that this has been a transformational experience. Three keywords encapsulate this journey—connection, clarity, and commitment. These words hold significant meaning, reflecting the profound impact of this program. On day one, we were all like kids on the first day of school, strangers to one another, filled with a mix of excitement and uncertainty. But as the days unfolded, we found ourselves stepping out of our comfort zones, embracing the unknown, and building a cohort community. Connection. By mid-week, we had begun to build genuine relationships with each other and admiration for the work our fellow founders were contributing to the workforce ecosystem. As we engaged in exercises and workshops that helped us understand our companies, we began to distinguish our value offerings, and other teams ceased to look like competitors but more like collaborators (again, that might just be me). Clarity. By the end of the week, we were all left with a more profound sense of purpose and dedication to the work needed in this space. We inspired each other, learned from each other, and ultimately fortified each other. There were many visionaries in the cohort, and I know it wasn’t just me when I say I am more emboldened to see the vision for my company through. Commitment. I want to thank the Techstars WFD team, managing director Dave Cass, program manager Sasha Green, business development associate Kiana Mendes, and program associate Kelly Mosher, for a fantastic first week, enriching experience, and flawless execution. I also want to extend my gratitude to my Fathom PBC team, Julie Dunlap, John Morales-Marquez, Marvin Smith, and the other founders participating in this cohort. Our diverse group, both intellectually and culturally, has been a source of inspiration and learning. Your unique perspectives and expertise have made me more confident in my ability to be a great founder and represent the Techstars community. Together, we are building a future of work centered on optimizing human potential. For those who don’t know, Fathom PBC makes it easy for workforce organizations to find, employ and track talent in the world of work. I look forward to reconnecting with everyone in July! #Techstars #GiveFirst #Fathom #WorkforceDevelopment #FutureofWork #Founders #Startups #Entrepreneurship
