  • At the 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), the FAST Initiative is proud to have co-hosted the side event “Connecting the Dots: Trafficking in Persons & Violence Against Women and Girls” alongside the Permanent Missions of Cyprus and Tajikistan to the United Nations, UNODC, and supporting co-sponsors of the Permanent Missions of Armenia, Dominican Republic, Georgia, Greece, Philippines and Portugal. The FAST Initiative highlighted the critical role of finance in combating modern slavery and human trafficking. Women and girls make up 71% of all trafficked victims globally, with 96% of those trafficked for sexual exploitation. This underscores the urgent need for gender-sensitive financial solutions to disrupt illicit economies and protect vulnerable populations. FAST, within UNDP’s Sustainable Finance Hub and with collaborative implementation through UNDP Business & Human Rights, works to: ?? Strengthen financial sector accountability to combat human trafficking and modern slavery ?? Empower survivors, especially women and girls, through financial inclusion initiatives ?? Train financial and government professionals on modern slavery disclosure and human rights due diligence ?? Engage investors to align financial decisions with modern slavery-integrated sustainability frameworks and responsible investing As we gather global leaders, policymakers, and private sector actors at CSW 69, we renew our commitment to mobilizing finance as a force for good. Let’s work together for transformative action.
