I'll pause for a second and just say this Cameo is quite possibly the greatest gift I have ever received. Incredible. I mean, Tony Hawk name dropped Goldfinger and even told me to do a kickflip. Gosh I'm honored. I will never recover from this. ?? Anyway, if you're in the automation space, you should mark your calendars for July 23-25, 2025 in Houston, TX! Hosted by Automation Ladies, this event is led by some of the finest folks in the automation industry, focusing on operational technology and more specifically supervisory control and data acquisition systems. I've heard nothing but good things from all of my peers that attended last year. What started off as a captioning error in one of Nikki Gonzales recent videos (LinkedIn's auto-captions can't tell the difference between "SCADA" and "SKATER") is now a running joke that will likely last the entirety of 2025 and beyond. If Tony Hawk got your attention and you made it this far, definitely check out OT SCADA CON. Maybe I'll even throw a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater-themed Manufacturing Happy Hour afterparty down there. Why is "HMI" not the same thing as "SCADA?", they both have screens you programs so what's the problem? They both communicate directly with PLCs to make it more confusing. it boils down to Software, Hardware and location. HMI (Human Machine Interface) is programmed with a different software than SCADA depending on the hardware you bought to do the job. HMI screens like Allen Bradley PanelView requires either Studio5000 View Designer OR FactoryTalk View Machine Edition and those will ONLY program Allen Bradley panelview hardware. HMIs are local to the machine or process. SCADA is part of someone's server room and there better be AC in there. SCADA (Supervisory Control and data Aquisition) requires a server and at least one montior so somebody can "supervisory" lol. If you kept it all Rockwell (Which ownes Allen Bradley) your scada would then need to be FactoryTalk View Site Edition. You have the option to do something like Inductive Automations Ignition platform, so basically put your SCADA on steroids and cross into IIOT industry 4.0 land...recommend.
