Emerging economies urgently need climate finance to fund the infrastructure needed for a low-carbon economy. But private capital isn’t flowing fast enough! A lack of consistency in definitions of “sustainable infrastructure” and company data is creating room for greenwashing and opacity - holding investors back. The FAST-Infra Label is designed to meet this challenge by building a consistent, transparent and globally applicable standard for projects demonstrating significant sustainability performance and outcomes. Building on the work of over 25 existing standards, frameworks and taxonomies, the Label aims to bridge the gap between the wide range of sustainable labels and frameworks that currently co-exist in the market to present a consolidated and reliable source for investors. Projects apply against a framework of 14 criteria spanning four dimensions of sustainability: Environmental, Social, Governance, and Adaptation and Resilience.
