We are doing a lot of testing behind the scenes with FASS EGR Solutions—but sometimes a simple show-and-tell does just as well. TLDR: if you can delete your truck, do it. If you don’t want to, or can’t, keep reading—and decide what condition you want your engine to be in. Here we have two intake manifolds from two different 6.7 Fords. One being ours, and one being a customers. Both are within 10,000 miles of 100,000 miles. One has had the EGR filter installed since basically new, and one with 100,000 miles without the EGR filter. The cone in the first picture is where the EGR comes into the intake. This is also where the intercooler plumbing attaches. The manifold without the EGR Filter installed has an orifice about 1/2 the size of the manifold that has had the FASS EGR Filter installed. That sure doesn’t seem like optimal conditions for an efficient running engine. If you look at the square port picture, this is where the air transfers to the plastic intake—Spencer scraped both. The one with the filter installed is a light dusting of soot coming off. The one without the filter is large chunks and in some areas 3/8” thick. Fire away with any questions!
