关于我们

Fashion Revolution India is a not-for-profit organisation advocating for a clean, safe, fair, transparent and accountable fashion industry. As part of the global Fashion Revolution movement spanning across 75 countries, Fashion Revolution India envisions a fashion industry that prioritises the conservation and restoration of the environment while valuing the well-being of people over growth and profit. We mobilise citizens, brands and policymakers through education, policy dialogues and research, promotion of craft and advocacy campaigns. The movement encourages consumers to demand transparency and accountability from fashion brands, urging them to consider the social and environmental impact of their purchasing choices. Driven by the aftermath of the tragic Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh in 2013, Fashion Revolution serves as a powerful voice for change, raising awareness and promoting sustainability and ethics within the fashion industry.

  • Fashion Revolution India hosted a Roundtable discussion earlier last week at the KULA Conclave on the topic “Crafting Circularity: Strengthening the Upcycling Economy in India” KULA was the perfect platform to have this conversation considering that it plays host to some of the leading creators in Craft & Fashion and prominent Impact Investors. The goal of the discussion was to examine the factors impacting the success of the Upcycling ecosystem in India. Moderated by Pooja Srinivas, this event witnessed an encouraging turnout of over 90 people and an animated exchange of perspectives. The participants included thought leaders, brand representatives, and craft enterprises who listed the areas that need attention in order to strengthen the upcycling sector in India. Here is a gist of the key upcycling challenges identified by them. Key Challenges of the Upcycling sector in India ?? Access to Upcycling Feedstock: Limited access to clean and homogenous feedstock, tough to identify material properties and fibre compositions ?? Technology & Production: Lack of affordable technology for traceability; machinery for sanitizing and reweaving ; prevalence of small-batch production that limits scalability. ?? Cost Viability: High energy consumption concerns compared to virgin production, Need for innovation to make upcycled pieces cost-effective and scalable. ?? Design & Marketing: Upcycling is perceived as a "class B" solution, impacting marketability. It’s Harder to design with diverse waste streams and reimagine waste feedstock into desirable products. What’s Next? Watch out for more updates from us as we uncover opportunities and solutions to make India’s Upcycling sector thrive. Shout out to all the Friends of Fashion Revolution India Sahar Mansoor , Karishma Shahani-Khan , Prerna Singh Butalia and the FR India team Shruti Singh ?? Pooja Srinivas , Shreya Basu , Kriti Srivastava for making this a rich and insightful conversation! Also thanking Priya Krishnamoorthy and the 200 million artisans team for the the opportunity to collaborate on KULA Conclave 2024! #FashionRevolution #Upcycling #CircularEconomy #SustainableFashion #CraftingCircularity

Their lives were cut short due to unsafe working conditions in the garment factory. We honor their memory and stand in solidarity with their families. ?? Let's turn our remembrance into action. We must continue to fight for safe working conditions, fair wages, and workers' rights in the garment industry.
