Together, with Founder Doug Farr, FAIA, LEED AP, CNU-A, they will advance the firm’s mission of prototyping the future and bringing cutting-edge, affordable, sustainable design to all. In the last 34 years, Farr Associates has been recognized at a firm, project, and individual level for advocacy in sustainable, mission-driven design. The firm’s work spans 10 states and includes 1.9 M square feet of high-performance architectural works, 5,000 acres of urban design master plans and studies, and form-based codes covering 384 square miles of communities. Two of Farr’s projects have received the highest sustainability awards, The American Institute of Architects (AIA)'s COTE® Top Ten, and most have been certified under a green rating system for high-performance design. BIG news! 🌱 Many congratulations to The City of Michigan City, Indiana, Economic Development Corporation Michigan City, and especially Mayor Angela Nelson Deuitch, MPA, CDP® who has been advocating and leading the effort to reimagine Michigan City for many, many years! Thanks to the State of Indiana and Governor Eric Holcomb for a strong signal to kick this project into high gear. Let's burn some rubber! 🤠
Tonight, Gov. Eric Holcomb brought our Mayor Angie Nelson Deuitch to the stage and to announce that the state is transferring ownership of the Indiana State Prison site to the City of Michigan City during the Forum event! 🙌 The governor and Mayor Angie signed a letter of intent stating Michigan City will receive the propery by Jan. 1, 2029, after it has been decommissioned. We’re honored that Gov. Holcomb and the State of Indiana are significantly investing in Michigan City's economic and community development! 📽️: Chicago's Historic Lawson House Renovated into 400+ Affordable Apartment Units Project leaders from #WalshConstruction, Farr Associates Architecture & Urban Design and Holsten Human Capital Development, NFP offer their thoughts on the historic renovation of America's largest single-room occupancy (SRO) building and its ultimate delivery back to Lawson House residents. The $128 million Lawson House renovation modernizes and preserves the affordable apartment units within the historic Art Deco building. Walsh Construction worked with Holsten Real Estate Development and Holsten Human Capital to rehabilitate the 200,000-square-foot, 24-story structure, transforming the building’s 583 single-room occupancy units into over 400 affordable apartment units with private kitchens and bathrooms.
