Imagine entrepreneurial education crafted for farmers striving to transform their local food systems. A place where they bring their ambitions, learn the tools and strategies, and then leave with the exact "playbook" to achieve those goals. All alongside fellow farmers and a regional network of industry support. FARMpreneurs? is doing just that. If you're a farmer with big, ambitious goals, please apply. They are hosting two "strategic sprints" this January. Innovative and effective organizations use these week-long, accelerated periods to set goals, identify challenges, clarify values, and create direction for their teams. FARMpreneurs? is bringing this business tool to agriculture. Plus, it's free for farmers to attend if selected, thanks to the Ideagarden Institute. After decades of teaching social entrepreneurial education and food system change, Will Rosenzweig noticed farmers needed to include business-building resources and financial support that other industries, like software and technology, were receiving. He collaborated with many people to develop a curriculum that fit for farmers. They launched their first two cohorts in 2019 and 2020 at Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture and Blue Hill At Stone Barns. Unfortunately, it paused due to the pandemic. But they are relaunching with two strategic sprints in January. And they are still looking for farmers to attend. January 5-10 ??Northern California Bishop's Ranch January 19-25 ??Redmond, Washington Carnation Farms FARMpreneurs??is positioned perfectly for nationwide impact by empowering farmers with the entrepreneurial skills to become changemakers. If you are a farmer with aspirations to impact your regional food system and regenerate your land, do yourself and your local community a favor by applying. The deadline is October 28th. The application link is in the comments. #soilhealth #sustainableagriculture #farming #agriculture #organicfarming #regenerativeagriculture #farm #entrepreneurship #vc #conservation

FARMpreneurs? is making a difference. 100% of farmers who attended our strategic sprint in 2020 are... ?????? - still farming ?? - increased their profits ?? - increased climate-smart practices ???????? - reported a direct positive impact on their local community We have two more strategic sprints scheduled for January, which will equip more farmers with the entrepreneurial skills and professional network to transform their local food systems and grow their farms profitably! Take Jesse Smith from White Buffalo Land Trust, for example. He developed and refined a strategy for a value-added product made from the fully-regenerative production at White Buffalo Land Trust. The FARMpreneurs? program helped him develop a rubric for testing and prioritizing new product opportunities while creating a clear strategy and presentation for his organization's board and future funders. Voilà, Figure Ate was born. We hope to have hundreds, and eventually thousands, of farmers attending our strategic sprints and working toward their “Big Hairy Audacious Goals." #regenerativeagriculture #climate #farming #agriculture #food #entrepreneurship

Regenerative Food Systems Investment forum was a success! Recap and reflections: ?? ?????? - We appreciate the farmer-first conversations. ?? - How do we make sure investment positively impacts soil health? ???????? - Importance of diverse collaborations that is farmer-led. ?? - Farmer education about capital and the investing landscape. This is why we are building FARMpreneurs?. It's our mission to be the connective tissue that helps farms become more investable. We are building the networks and tools for farmers to grow their farm's impact and transform their local food systems. Farmers need to understand the investing landscape and feel comfortable seeking capital to expand their operations or innovate on their land. The FARMpreneurs? strategic sprint is giving farmers those tools and connections. The proof is our alumni. Figure Ate was a sponsor at Regenerative Food Systems Investment. It was also founded by?Jesse Smith, an alumnus of the 2020 cohort. Our program helped him develop and refine a strategy for launching a fully regenerative value-add product from White Buffalo Land Trust. It helped him develop a rubric for testing new product opportunities and creating a strategy and presentation for his organization's board and funders. We need catalytic funding partners to amplify this work nationwide. The capital is there, but we must ensure it positively impacts more farmers, results in a more resilient local food system, and improves soil health.
