Gift giving season can give even MORE with Farm to Pantry's olive oil! We glean olives from groves in Sonoma County & press them to make oil, which we share with families in need & also with campaign donors making a gift of $50 or more: https://lnkd.in/gs_4ZGRe This is a truly unique, local olive oil program that spares the planet of waste & gives back to the community. The label also features local youth artwork; the 2023 art contest winner was a client at Becoming Independent! This oil is a nice alternative to wine as a holiday party-host favor & a great, local GIFT THAT GIVES BACK...a healthy, unique present for anyone on your list. #foodjustice

It was great to see Farm To Pantry at a recent event I attended. And it's always fun to see products we produced like the tablecloth, lip balm and bags. Farm to Pantry does great work and these bags are a gift to their donors! ?????? #farmtopantry?#707promotions

Farm to Pantry has been named a "2024 Nextdoor Neighborhood Fave Business," the annual awards program that recognizes local businesses loved by neighbors. "Winners represent outstanding service providers, local spots & eateries that are an essential part of our everyday lives,” said Nirav Tolia, Chief Executive Officer of Nextdoor. “We’re thrilled to celebrate these important members of the community.” Selected by volume of neighbor ‘Faves’ and recommendations on the platform from the past year, the "Neighborhood Faves Awards" recognizes the most beloved local businesses on Nextdoor. Had a great time volunteering - and trying to keep cool in 95 degree heat! - at the Farm To Pantry’s Summer Supper event at Kendall-Jackson winery in Santa Rosa over the weekend. Gorgeous gardens, a great crowd (not pictured) and a very worthwhile cause. Cheers!

Farm To Pantry is an amazing organization and this morning I had the opportunity to #volunteer in #Sonoma at beautiful farm. ???? We spent the morning picking tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, squash, zucchini, apples, blackberries, bell peppers and flowers. In the afternoon, everything was split into four groups (pictured) and delivered to four local organizations. Their mission? ?? To bring together our communities to end food injustice and reverse global warming by rescuing and sharing locally grown food with those who have been systematically marginalized. ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? Farm to Pantry goes deep with KSVY's Tim Zahner.
Working for a "destination" is a weird thing: on one hand, you promote an idealized image of a place. On the other hand, because you live there, in the "community" upon which the actual "destination" rests, you know all of its wonderful parts and many of its flaws and shortcomings. I know that my colleagues in the industry love to promote their hometowns, but they also love to be a part of working on solutions for their community. Kelly Conrad of Farm To Pantry does a great job of discussing this: how the hospitality industry is involved, often behind the scenes, on advocating for change and creating healthier communities. We're not perfect and we we may need to advocate more forcefully, but I appreciated her honest discussion. Here's her interview on the recent podcast: https://lnkd.in/gxyPqxyN #hospitality #tourism #foodsecurity #housing #sonoma #teambuilding #travelkindly #mindfultravel #sanfranciscotravel #winecountry #meetings

I spent my honeymoon in Sonoma and always jump at the chance to visit. Birgitt Vaughan crafted an incredible itinerary and it was an absolute pleasure meeting with Duskie Estes. I applaud the work Sonoma County Tourism has been doing. Now I have several more reasons to return, one of which is to take my sons gleaning with Farm To Pantry and, of course, to visit more Kind Traveler properties. My hope is that this will become the norm for travel. Thank you Jessica Blotter for contributing to my article and for the incredible work you are doing.
"In Sonoma County, through a partnership between Sonoma County Tourism and Kind Traveler, travelers looking to advance positive impact while traveling are encouraged to explore Kind Traveler’s new?Every Stay Gives Back?hotel collection, where every guest stay helps fund a local nonprofit in the community visited. Regardless of where you book, the Every Stay Gives Back initiative donates 100% of funds to participating local charities. Some of the positive impacts created so far through the Kind Traveler and Sonoma County Tourism partnership, as shown in a?live impact report, include: - 17,660 servings of Sonoma County-grown vegetables provided to families facing food injustice with Farm To Pantry - 1,110 science-based nature experiences provided to elementary students with Pepperwood? -168 days of care provided to farm animal welfare efforts with Charlie's Acres Farm Animal Sanctuary? - 41 miles of?hiking trails?maintained with Sonoma Land Trust? - 7,500 pounds of trash removed from the Russian River with Russian Riverkeeper" On behalf of Kind Traveler, we are so grateful for our partnership with Sonoma County Tourism and the participating Sonoma County lodging partners and charities to make such positive impact a reality. Thank you to AP writer, Casandra Karpiak, for the opportunity to contribute to this article and for helping to celebrate the positive impact we are creating collectively! ?? Eco-travel and agri-tourism are becoming such an important way to explore our planet without hurting it. We are excited to have our hat in this realm!
"Travel is a journey that connects people, which is what makes it so exciting. But after experiencing massive crippling crowds at popular overtouristed destinations this year, where good behavior was in short supply, global travelers have become increasingly aware of the negative impact tourism can have on the local community. Judging by the now-surging interest in bringing positivity to tourism through?ethical tourism,?immersive travel,?responsible tourism and regenerative travel, it is obvious that travelers are looking for meaningful experiences–in less-traveled destinations, perhaps–that give back at the same time." Check out the full story written by the esteemed writer, Rona Berg, for Forbes. We have SO much gratitude for the time and talents that go into creating such a story and are thankful for the opportunity to take a deep dive into Kind Traveler’s mission and new beginnings and partnerships launched over this last year with our new program, Every Stay Gives Back. Thank YOU for this opportunity, Rona! ???? https://lnkd.in/g8yBsYiU #ResponsibleTourism #SustainableTourism #DestinationStewardship #ESG #Philanthropy #LuxuryTravel Mentioned in the story: Visit California (Brian Wright/Lindsey Cody), Sonoma County Tourism (Claudia Vecchio/Birgitt Vaughan), Farm To Pantry (Duskie Estes/Kelly Conrad), The Stavrand (Emily Glick), Wildhaven Glamping (Ken Barber), The Gables Wine Country Inn, Art House Hotel/(Jane Vick/William Tony Pace), Adrift Hospitality/(@Tiffany Turner/Kacia Lessnau), Dylan Jude Harrell Community Center, Pepperwood, Las Catalinas, Costa Rica, Visit Santa Rosa, Oregon Coast Visitors Association/(Finn Johnson), Love Catalina Island/ Jim Luttjohann)
