By automating this process, they aim to make large scale irrigation setup faster, more precise, and less physically demanding. Exciting News! For the first time, my team and I are participating in the Farm Robotics Challenge—and we’re bringing innovation to the field with our robot, SmartSpray Rover! This is also the first time the University of Missouri is joining the challenge, organized by UC Agriculture and Natural Resources and the AI Institute for Next Generation Food Systems (AIFS). We submitted our proposal for the first stage of development using the Amiga Platform (by Farm-ng). SmartSpray Rover is designed to revolutionize precision agriculture with: ? Today, we had the pleasure of meeting with Nathan Dorn from Farm-ng, who introduced us to The Amiga, an autonomous field rover tailored for diverse farm tasks. Farm-ng's innovative product is now reaching High Schools and Colleges nationwide, offering students a chance to develop next-gen agriculture skills. During a 10-week curriculum devloped by Farm-ng, students delve into building and utilizing The Amiga from the ground up. The program covers essential skills like electrical systems, mechanical assembly, field operations, safety protocols, coding, and software development for effective machine operation. During the meeting, Nathan generously allowed Ric Murphy, our Program Director for California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom, to test drive The Amiga. It was truly an enlightening experience witnessing the intersection of technology and agriculture for educational advancement.
