In honor of the 10th anniversary of the Ice Bucket Challenge, Reynolds Cramer participated in the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness and funds for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). This Challenge took place at the Norwalk Fareway store, and allowed employees, customers, and community members to watch and cheer him on. The Ice Bucket Challenge, which gained widespread popularity 10 years ago, involves participants dumping a bucket of ice water over their heads and then challenging others to do the same. Fareway Stores is proud to announce a $5,000 to further research efforts.

Fareway Stores had 6 employees complete the 2024 IGIA Leadership Institute. The 2024 cohort are promising leaders that received education and training they need to lead the Iowa Grocer industry now and in the future. The IGIA Leadership Institute is limited to only 24 industry leaders and graduates were recognized at the IGIA Convention in Coralville. This year’s Leadership Institute consisted of four one-day sessions delivering an outstanding lineup of topics and presenters. Fareway Stores, Inc. will be a host of an exclusive No. 9 Iowa Whiskey bottle signing and meet and greet event including Iowa native Slipknot at the Pleasant Hill Fareway. Customers can visit the store on Thursday, September 19th from 5-7 PM to meet the members of Slipknot, take photos, get autographs, and collect a specialty signature on the band’s No. 9 Iowa Whiskey. https://lnkd.in/gjkQk7PS

Fareway Stores, Inc. is partnering with The Iowa Wave Shirt to conduct the fourth annual Round Up at the register from August 26 – September 7 at all Iowa store locations, the two weeks ahead of the Iowa vs. Iowa State football game. Customers will have the opportunity to round up to the next dollar or provide an additional donation on their grocery bill to help fund The Iowa Wave Shirt’s mission. Dollars raised through the round up will benefit the Iowa Wave Shirt, a non-profit created to support the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. Additionally, Fareway employees can purchase a co-branded Iowa Wave Shirt in their favorite team colors to wear during the event, on game-days, or other events throughout the year. https://lnkd.in/geDAv9e4

We are pleased to announce that Lacey Smith will be joining our corporate office as an Associate Category Manager! Lacey has worked in our Anamosa Fareway and the downtown Ames location while she was in undergrad. She graduated with my Bachelor’s in Animal Science in December of 2023 and completed an internship with the Fareway Training & Development team this spring. In May, Lacey switched over to a DSD/Category Management internship for the summer while working on her MBA online through the University of Dubuque. In her free time, she loves traveling and trying new things. We're so happy to have you, Lacey!

For being a top fundraising store, Clinton Fareway was able to gift Mary, from Clinton County, a mobility bike! ?? Mary is excited to ride her new bike with her brother! ??
