Dr. Poussaint helped us secure our first van and played a critical role in advising us as we built the strong network of partnerships that continue to drive our mission today. His dedication to ensuring access to compassionate, community-based care will never be forgotten. Their team is driving global efforts to make brain care accessible to all, equipping communities with science-backed tools and strategies to help prevent dementia, Alzheimer’s, stroke, and depression. During their visit, they saw firsthand how The Family Van provides trusted, compassionate care—offering free health screenings, education, and referrals to those who need them most. Originally from East Boston, Julissa Rosa Chévez made a big impact on our communities last summer, and our mobile clinic had a big impact on her. Our team—Simone deOliveira and our incredible Harvard Medical School Student National Medical Association volunteers—were honored to attend Shooting Touch Boston’s Kendric Price Cup today! ???? The event celebrated the legacy of Kendric Price, a Dorchester native, dedicated mentor, and victim of gun violence. Kendric’s commitment to his community was unwavering—he served as an assistant coach for the UMass Boston men’s basketball team, Roxbury Community College, and several youth teams. Beyond basketball, he created a program to help teach city youth about finance by using basketball giving them the tools for a brighter future. Kendric once said: "If a good kid is given the choice of two options, one good and the other bad, I believe the child will choose the good option... Many of the children who grow up and live in underprivileged areas do not have the luxury of one of their options being a good one." His words and legacy continue to inspire us. She launched The Family Van, proving that healthcare could be delivered outside traditional settings, building trust, transforming lives, and strengthening communities.
