What a beautiful Saturday in Dorchester! ?? We were thrilled to join Berea Church for an amazing community gathering with a food pantry, fundraiser, and Haitian Mental Health & Wellness session—and the energy was incredible! ?? Our team provided free health screenings and education, making sure everyone had access to the care and info they need to stay healthy. Remembering Dr. Alvin F. Poussaint: A True Advocate for Equity in Healthcare. We are deeply saddened by the recent passing of Dr. Alvin F. Poussaint, a trailblazer in psychiatry and a steadfast advocate for justice and healthcare equity. His unwavering support for The Family Van was instrumental from the very beginning. Dr. Poussaint helped us secure our first van and played a critical role in advising us as we built the strong network of partnerships that continue to drive our mission today. His dedication to ensuring access to compassionate, community-based care will never be forgotten. We are forever grateful for his support and guidance, which helped shape The Family Van into the trusted, impactful resource it is. Our team—Simone deOliveira and our incredible Harvard Medical School Student National Medical Association volunteers—were honored to attend Shooting Touch Boston’s Kendric Price Cup today! ???? The event celebrated the legacy of Kendric Price, a Dorchester native, dedicated mentor, and victim of gun violence. Kendric’s commitment to his community was unwavering—he served as an assistant coach for the UMass Boston men’s basketball team, Roxbury Community College, and several youth teams. Beyond basketball, he created a program to help teach city youth about finance by using basketball giving them the tools for a brighter future. Kendric once said: "If a good kid is given the choice of two options, one good and the other bad, I believe the child will choose the good option... Many of the children who grow up and live in underprivileged areas do not have the luxury of one of their options being a good one." His words and legacy continue to inspire us. We are grateful for the ongoing efforts to uplift and empower youth. #ShootingTouchBoston #TheFamilyVan #BostonCommunity #MobileClinic #MobileHealthcare

?? What if the best way to improve healthcare isn’t in a hospital, but right in our neighborhoods? 33 years ago, Dr. Nancy Oriol saw a system that wasn’t working for everyone in Boston—so she brought care directly to the people. She launched The Family Van, proving that healthcare could be delivered outside traditional settings, building trust, transforming lives, and strengthening communities. But one mobile clinic wasn’t enough. To grow this vision and support other mobile clinics across the country, we created Mobile Health Map—a program that empowers mobile clinics with the data and tools they need to evaluate their impact. ?? Watch Dr. Oriol’s TEDxBoston talk to hear how we got started, and why mobile healthcare is more vital than ever. https://lnkd.in/emTktREU #MobileClinics #CommunityCare #MobileHealthcare #TEDxBoston #TEDx #TheFamilyVan

Frontline community health workers—Rainelle Walker-White, Ghislaine "Gigi" Firmin, Dina Martinez, and Simone deOliveira—who provide compassionate, community-centered care every day. ?? Behind the scenes, Piper Derenoncourt, Mary Kathryn Fallon, Kait Guild, Michelle Jimenez, Josephina L., and Mollie Williams work tirelessly to ensure our mission continues to grow and thrive. This International Women’s Day, we celebrate their dedication and the countless women driving change in healthcare and beyond. #IWD, #IWD2025, #WomensDay
