We are thrilled to announce Catie McCauley as our new President & CEO beginning January 1, 2025! With 25+ years of YMCA experience, Catie has driven growth, partnerships, and support for our community. We’re eager for her leadership as we continue to expand our impact. Catie will succeed Danny McConnell who will retire in December after a 40+ year career at the Y! "I am honored to build on Danny McConnell’s legacy and lead our YMCA into an exciting future. My dedication to community impact and organizational excellence remains steadfast, and I am eager to deepen our partnerships across the Greater Augusta area. Together, we will continue strengthening our community and expanding the vital work of the YMCA.”

关于我们
For more than 165 years, the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta has been a pillar in the CSRA, providing programs with a purpose for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Our annual fundraising campaign helps build the resources we need to best serve our neighbors and members. The Y leads the charge in adapting to community needs. Every year, we strive to increase scholarships, add new member benefits and design programs that support our community. We operate at more than 50 locations in eight counties across Georgia and South Carolina, including 9 health and wellness facilities, a Child Development Academy, Camp Lakeside (a 100-acre camp in Lincolnton), 27 Primetime After School sites and 19 summer camp locations throughout the CSRA. No one is turned away from the Y for their inability to pay. Each year, we give out $2 million in scholarships to those in need. This allows more kids to attend camp, provides the opportunity for more families to become members, and gives more youth a safe place to go before and after regular school hours.

While this year’s Duck Dash festival won’t take place in person, we’re excited to still host the rubber duck race virtually on November 6! The event will be live-streamed from the Aiken County YMCA’s lazy river, where we’ll race the ducks and award fabulous prizes from our sponsors. Join the fun on the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta’s Facebook page at 12 PM! As you know, the Duck Dash event helps raise awareness and funding for the Y’s A Place to Dream program. In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, we’ve seen a rise in applications, and the need for beds continues to grow. Many families lost their beds due to damage from the storm, making your support for this vital program more important than ever. Thanks to your support of the 2024 Duck Dash, we’re able to provide much-needed beds to families in need and respond quickly to this growing demand. Our mission and commitment to strengthening the community is stronger than ever. We hope you’ll consider supporting next year’s Duck Dash event on October 4, 2025.

The Y is proud to donate several more pallets of water to WNC! Thank you KAMO Facility Solutions & Supplies for providing the means for us to transport another truckload of water to our friends at YMCA of Western North Carolina. We still have more water to donate! If your company has the means and would like to partner with us to transport, please call us at 706-922-9603.

While things look more normal here in Augusta, there's still a long road to recovery in WNC. We are incredibly fortunate that our Y and community stepped-up to provide water to our North Carolina neighbors!
A MAJOR thank you to our friends at Family YMCA of Greater Augusta for collecting and donating around 100,000 bottles of water this week for our afterschool kids in Buncombe County Schools and Asheville City Schools! As it will still take a significant amount of time to get clean water flowing back into the schools, the Y needed to pivot to be sure we had the large quantity of water needed in order to run our afterschool programs. This required us to invest in a large warehouse space to store and disperse this water as needed. Ys across the state and country have truly stepped up to help us in our time of need. Thank you all! We are going to sound like celebrities at an award show because we still have so many people to thank for their help in our hurricane recovery: Thank you Augusta Bottling Co., Enmarket, Georgia Power, Plant Vogtle and Augusta Fire Department for donating water, nonperishable food and other items for the Y to distribute to those in need. Thank you Athens YMCA, Columbia YMCA and Khayamadi Foundation for volunteering with our food program. Thank you to the Community Foundation for the CSRA for providing us a grant from the Hurricane Helene Community Crisis Fund. Thank you Golden Harvest Food Bank for partnering with us to get food where it was needed. A HUGE thank you to our amazing board members and staff who stepped up to serve our community. To all the people and organizations that partnered with us or donated to our hurricane relief efforts, THANK YOU. The success and speed of our Hurricane Helene recovery efforts would not have been possible without these amazing groups stepping up. #ThankfulThursday

Imagine sharing a single bed with 5 of your siblings or sleeping with nothing but a blanket, and then being expected to focus in school day-in and day-out. That's what thousands of children right here in the CSRA are dealing with. The Y's A Place to Dream program gives these children safe spaces to recharge and rest at night. You can support A Place to Dream by participating in the Augusta Duck Dash on Oct. 12 - https://lnkd.in/etEFaR3m.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available for the Augusta Duck Dash presented by Wellstar! This fundraising event benefits the Y's A Place to Dream program, which provides beds to children in need and, in partnership with Wellstar, portable cribs for infants to reduce the risk of SIDS.
