Thanks to CBS4 for the coverage on Family Tree's new GOALS expansion. One note, GOALS (Generational Opportunities to Achieve Long-term Success) is an existing program of Family Tree in Aurora. The expansion provided 10 additional rooms - for a total of 29 rooms - for families experiencing homelessness. Thank you also to our partners in this effort Congressman Jason Crow, Arapahoe and Douglas Counties, and the city of Aurora. https://lnkd.in/dJwmHjec

FAMILY TREE OFFERS COLORADO HOMELESS CONTRIBUTION INCOME TAX CREDIT The last in our series for Homelessness Awareness Month connects the needs of homelessness with the desire to address those needs with a financial gift. The Colorado Homeless Contribution Income Tax Credit (HCTC) aims to encourage taxpayers to make contributions to approved nonprofit organizations to support providing appropriate housing and services to assist individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The HCTC provides a 25% state income tax credit to Colorado taxpayers who contribute to eligible homelessness-related projects within Colorado. Contributions over $100 for Family Tree Homelessness Program and Residential Programs are eligible for the HCTC. The math: Donate $1000 to Family Tree and get a $250 tax credit. Donations must be entered, at minimum, on a quarterly basis, so long as they meet the contribution minimum of $100. The final deadline for donor-submitted contributions is January 31, 2025. EXPANDING FAMILY TREE GOALS PROGRAM On Wednesday, November 20, Family Tree team members and community supporters joined together for the ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the newly renovated Evergreen building on our GOALS campus. The open house was hosted by Douglas County and welcomed other partners of GOALS including representatives from Congressman Jason Crow’s office, Arapahoe County, the city of Aurora, PG Construction and Jigsaw Design. We are grateful for their support and for the generosity of all those who helped donate to furnish and make the building ready for new Family Tree clients. The renovation allows Family Tree to provide 10 more rooms as well as a communal living space for families experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness in Arapahoe and Douglas Counties. ? Family Tree Generational Opportunities to Achieve Long-term Success (GOALS) uses a two-generation (2Gen) approach to assist families experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness. GOALS helps stabilize families on their journey to find economic empowerment, breaking the cycle of poverty and homelessness and creating opportunities for health and well-being across generations. Each family residing at GOALS has a private room and access to common living areas, offering a safe place to live while they work with Family Tree and community partners to develop long-term goals for stability and economic independence. Residency in the program is up to nine months, depending on each families’ unique needs, with follow up and support offered for one year after leaving the program. GIVE THE GIFT OF GIFT CARDS As we move into the holiday of giving thanks, we are considering how to best support our clients during the holiday season. After years of giving out stuff to our clients during the holidays, Family Tree has made a strategic decision to provide GIFT CARDS instead of physical gifts. The intention is to continue to celebrate the season, still provide some opportunities for donor and volunteer engagement, and give a kind yet empowering offering to Family Tree clients and their families. “Lani (a Family Tree client) shared how she felt like she was seen as a capable, yet struggling parent. One who is trusted to take these cards and provide the best holiday gifts, meals and overall experience for her family.” - Family Tree Blog Post According to a recent Business Insider article, “Gift cards provide a solution. They put the power in the hands of the people we're giving to. Rather than showing them what we think they need, gift cards allow us to convey a powerful message: We trust that you know your family's needs better than we do.” We are encouraging those who wish to participate in Family Tree’s Holidays of Hope to host gift card drives. We are also having those who want to do drives for physical items concentrate on the essentials - hygiene products and cleaning supplies – which are always in high demand for our programs. Please support Family Tree and learn more at https://lnkd.in/gVkXwemH.
