We at Family Promise of Morris County mourn the loss of Deacon Ray Chimileski, founder and Director of Operation Chillout, a beloved leader who dedicated over 30 years to uplifting our community. A strong supporter and partner of our mission and the Our Promise Drop-In Center, Deacon Ray touched countless lives across New Jersey through his compassion and commitment to service. As the leader of our state’s oldest all-volunteer mobile outreach for unhoused veterans, he and his team distributed essential items to those in need, embodying his deep faith and love for the community. Deacon Ray’s legacy of service will continue to inspire us all. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ray’s name to Operation Chillout at https://lnkd.in/ex3TeRjM.

Happy Native American Heritage Month! This November, we recognize the Munsee Lenape as the original stewards of the land we call home here in Morris County. At FPMC, we’re reminded that the pursuit of safe, accessible housing is a right that Indigenous communities have fought to protect for generations. We honor Native American resilience and acknowledge the lasting impact of trauma and housing inequities faced by Indigenous nations across the country.

I love this soooo much! Thank you Crum & Forster for taking time to volunteer with animals in need of shelter! Family Promise of Morris County is proud to house ALL family members in both shelter and when moving to housing. Pets are a huge support, especially when going through a crisis. Last week during the Family Promise, Inc National Conference, I had a great time connecting with affiliates across the country working tirelessly to end the crisis of families experiencing homelessness. I was incredibly impressed by the work being done by all of our partners, but perhaps none more so than the innovative Landlord Support Program being run by Family Promise of Morris County. I firmly believe that there are many landlords out there who want to be a part of the solution to the homelessness crisis, but also have bills to pay and need to feed their family. From what I saw of their program last week, I think the Landlord Support Program of Family Promise of Morris County is a great solution. The fact that they were able to house almost 50 families in 18 months on a shoestring budget was incredibly impressive and I'm looking forward to learning more from their staff and seeing how we can implement something similar at Family Promise of Harrisburg Capital Region. Impact100 Garden State Members attended the 6th?Annual Morris County Mental Health &. Addiction Coalition Legislative Breakfast on Friday. It was an inspiring morning with speeches from elected officials (including Impact100 Garden State member Assemblywoman Aura K. Dunn), law enforcement leaders and mental health treatment experts.?Dozens of community partners, many of whom are Impact100 Garden State grant recipients, were in attendance.
