?? Happy Birthday, Cecelia! ?? Cecelia Long may be a newer member of our Family Promise team, joining the staff back in November, but she has already made such a big impact! Cecelia approaches her work with kindness, thoughtfulness, and a deep commitment to ensuring families are served well. From making sure volunteers feel welcomed and empowered to ensuring every family has the support they need from our community network, Cecelia is helping to create real, lasting change in our community. Congratulations, Jaraya! ?? This week, we’re celebrating Jaraya Reynolds, Family Promise of Greater Wichita’s dedicated Family Advocate for Shelter Services, for earning a spot on the Dean’s Honor Roll at Wichita State University! Her passion for supporting families in our Shelter Services program shines through in everything she does, and we are so proud of her hard work in both the classroom and in our community as she pursues her Social Work degree. This achievement is even more meaningful as we celebrate Women’s History Month. Women make up the vast majority of the social work field (more than 80%!), leading efforts to address some of the world’s toughest challenges with empathy, relationship, care, and dignity. Jaraya’s dedication is a perfect example of how women in social work are creating lasting change—one family at a time. ?? Transportation is one of the biggest barriers families face on the road to stability. Car repairs are expensive, and missing work due to a breakdown can mean lost wages—or even lost jobs. For families already working hard to regain their footing, one unexpected expense can derail everything. Through Ridgepoint Church's Jesus Loves Wichita project, two generous families recently stepped in to make a life-changing difference. One family provided Lyft gift cards, which have helped multiple families get to work, school, and important appointments when transportation options were limited. Another family helped cover car repairs for a family in need, making sure they had safe, reliable transportation again. The FPGW family in need of car repairs was also able to use the Lyft cards while they waited for their vehicle to be fixed. What a great overlap of these generous gifts! Because of this generosity and kindness, as well as the support of our community partners, families facing transportation challenges didn’t lose their jobs, their progress, or their hope.
