With every level, you will receive a table of 10, sponsor recognition, and a wishbone ornament with a family story attached. Did you know that this year Denver is projected to reach record high eviction filings? It is predicted that eviction filings for 2024 are predicted to hit 15,000. Through July of 2024, there have been over 9,000 evictions compared to 12,910 in 2023, 8,863 in 2022, and 4,879 in 2021. One of the reasons for this is due to the rising cost of living with the cost of a one-bedroom apartment increasing by $100-$150 each year. While these stats are alarming, it goes to show how much the services of Family Promise are needed to assist those being evicted due to the rising cost of living. Today we are giving a shoutout to Dr. Gordon Brown who is currently riding his bike across the country to break the cycle of poverty! This ride against poverty consisting of 44 nights, 100 towns, and 3,400 miles! Throughout this journey, he will be raising awareness, assisting, and advocating for the citizens who are suffering from poverty. This journey begins in Washington DC and concludes in San Francisco where he will be donating food, socks, and other necessities to the local unhoused families and organizations who serve them. Did you know that most parents spend up to $500 on back to school supplies each year? With inflation and rising cost of living, this isn’t possible for many parents. This is why each year Family Promise of Greater Denver hosts a Back to School Resource Fair, where we provide all necessary back to school items to the families who are currently in our program or recently gone through our program. At this event, backpacks, pencils, pens, highlights, rules, erasers, markers, and much more were offered so all the children who were in Family Promise programs are able to go back to school feeling prepared and confident! This past weekend, Family Promise of Greater Denver was the beneficiary of a two-day Parrot Head Club event! The two days were filled with great music, great food, gift basket raffles, and silent auction items. In the two days, over $8,000 was raised to go directly towards Family Promise. The money raised from this event will go towards supporting the families in our program and gives us the ability to provide services to more families in the future. Now more than ever the services of Family Promise are in demand and to keep up with the demand, donations such as these are needed. Back to school season is coming up! Family Promise of Greater Denver provides back to school supplies to the families currently in our program and to those who have recently been in our programs each year. We are asking for donations of back to school supplies this year so each child can enter the school year feeling prepared and confident.
