A new federal lawsuit has been set to prompt the Department of Health and Human Services in North Carolina to address the perceived inadequacies within the system overseen by county departments. Providing quality care for children in foster care is deeply reliant on the love and support of foster parents. Unfortunately, there has been a noticeable decrease in the number of licensed foster homes over the past five years. The financial strain on these dedicated families, who selflessly welcome children and youth in need into their homes, has intensified due to the escalating costs of groceries and daily living expenses. While foster parents do receive a monthly stipend, it often falls short of covering the full expenses associated with caring for these children. It is heartening to observe initiatives in Ohio aimed at recognizing and tackling this pressing issue through the introduction of new bills.
