关于我们
The National Center for Families Learning (NCFL) works to eradicate poverty through education solutions for families. We are a national nonprofit that supports family success and well-being through education. We partner with communities on initiatives where families develop their literacy and leadership skills. When parents and children are engaged in learning together, the whole family benefits. NCFL's vision is that by 2030, aligned and coordinated family learning systems are established in 60 communities, built with and for families, to increase education and economic outcomes, creating more equitable communities. It was a great week in Louisville for the 2024 Families Learning Conference, presented by National Center for Families Learning (NCFL). PNC and NCFL have enjoyed a wonderful relationship that goes back more than 20 years!?We are grateful for the work they do across the country and for the leadership of their amazing President Felicia Cumings Smith, Ed.D. This week’s conference gave education stakeholders the chance to connect and exchange best practices, and I enjoyed the opportunity to moderate a panel featuring some of those experts. Andrea Brown from NCFL, Cori Gadansky from Community Coordinated Child Care and Claude Stephens from the Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest?are doing terrific work to make outdoor play and learning accessible to pre-K children. For the 20th anniversary of #PNCGrowUpGreat this year, we've been all in on supporting nature-based play and learning, and it was exciting to hear real-world insights from the experts. Thanks to my Louisville colleagues Kristen Byrd Jean Scott, Mike Moll and everyone involved in making this such a great event.

The second day of #NCFL24 began with a morning general session spotlighting the Family and Child Education (FACE) program. We heard from William Mehojah, Jr. (the “father of FACE”) and Larissa Red Eagle, a former FACE participant who is now a Parent Educator. Author Daniel Vandever (Diné) delivered a powerful keynote before greeting attendees at a book signing for his award-winning children’s books. Thank you to today’s sponsors, exhibitors, and everyone else who made Day 2 of this year’s Families Learning Conference possible!

Thanks to the incredible Activate! graduates and alumni who presented this session at #NCFL24!
After 3 years of leading The Activate! National Early Childhood Network; I was able to support our current graduates and Alumni in facilitiating and creating their own presentations at The National Center for Families Learning Conference to forefront their knowledge, advocacy and lived experience in order to inform other practitioners, parents and stakeholders about inequity issues, best practices and strategies for educational success for children and families across the nation.

We began the morning with the Call to the Post from Churchill Downs Incorporated bugler Steve Buttleman and ended the evening with a toast to 35 Years of NCFL. In between, we heard from Dr. Dana Suskind and Kentucky First Lady Britainy Beshear, gained new insights into family learning practices from a host of inspiring session presenters, and took a moment to unwind, mingle, and network at a reception sponsored by Brown-Forman. Thanks to them and to all the sponsors who made the first day of #NCFL24 learning opportunities possible!
