关于我们
The National Center for Families Learning (NCFL) works to eradicate poverty through education solutions for families. We are a national nonprofit that supports family success and well-being through education. We partner with communities on initiatives where families develop their literacy and leadership skills. When parents and children are engaged in learning together, the whole family benefits. NCFL's vision is that by 2030, aligned and coordinated family learning systems are established in 60 communities, built with and for families, to increase education and economic outcomes, creating more equitable communities. Last week, our latest Kentucky-based cohort of Family Service Learning in Science (FSLsci) came together to showcase their work to the local community. FSLsci brings together educators, parenting adults, and middle and high school students to collaborate and consider ways to solve science-based community challenges. The teams created VR experiences to educate others about the challenges they chose — including ozone pollution and lead pipes leaching into home water. The FSLsci program builds students’ science knowledge and digital skills while also strengthening #FamilyEngagement and the home-school partnership.

We were so excited to meet with Book Harvest this week to celebrate our collaborative work together that has energized both organizations and to deepen our commitment to children and families across North Carolina. Book Harvest stands ready to scale their efforts through their Early Literacy System of Care, which works to support districts/schools as they plan for summer learning to address the summer literacy slide. We look forward to exploring how we can best support them in this important work.
We were thrilled to host Dr. Felicia Cumings Smith, Ed.D., President and CEO of the National Center for Families Learning (NCFL), and David Sisk, NCFL's North Carolina Director, at our headquarters in Durham today! NCFL has been leading work in family learning and literacy for over 35 years. Thank you for coming and partnering with us!
