Families for Families NJ

We are a 501c3 nonprofit linking families from more affluent areas with families trying to make ends meet, not just providing material goods, but bonding families from different backgrounds. Our mission is to harness the immense generosity and compassion we see in our hometown and surrounding area and use it to improve the lives of those in need. We rely on a village of volunteers, sponsors, partners, fundraisers, donors, and our Board of Directors to drive our mission. We focus on helping families/individuals served in homeless shelters, individuals in subsidized care, and families receiving public assistance. Our programs include: Apartment Furnishing - To help ease the transition from the shelter to a more permanent living space, we reach out to the head of household to understand a family’s unique needs. We then solicit donations, pick them up, and deliver them directly to the family. Adopt a Family for the Holidays - To help make the holidays special for recipients who are currently (or were recently) living in a homeless shelter, we pair a family or individual in need with a sponsor willing to purchase holiday gifts as well as necessities such as clothing and winter jackets. Adopt a Student for Back to School - To help a student return to school with a new backpack filled with school supplies and start the year with a key first step toward success, we seek donations. Clothing Closet - To help our client "shop" from when they need items, we gather and store a collection of clothing, shoes, and accessories in every size, gender, and use. Birthday Club - To help make a birthday a celebrated day for someone in need, we create a special birthday package which may include cake mix, balloons, and a card or small gift for someone who may not otherwise be able to celebrate their birthday. Emergency Groceries - To assist families facing an unexpected situation, we solicit donations for our emergency grocery program where families can seek grocery assistance.
