Family & Children's Place

Last week, we welcomed elected officials, community partners, supporters, volunteers and more to our campus for our annual Rally to End Child Abuse. Following the rally, attendees received a tour of our Child Advocacy Center and met with program staff at our Spring Open House. The weather might have been cold, but our hearts were warm and full of joy as we all gathered together to support children and families in the community. A special thank you to all of our guest speakers and for their continued dedication to making Kentucky the safest place possible for children to grow up in.

Hello, everyone! Elea Mihou Fox, M.U.P, CFRE here, and what an incredible first month I have had as the new CEO/President of Family & Children's Place. I couldn't be more thrilled to be leading such a vital agency. I hope you will take the time to read about my first month here, and I look forward to what the year has in store for us!

After 30 years of service with our agency, today was outgoing CEO/President Pamela Darnall last day with FCP. There are not enough words to describe the impact she has had on not just our agency, but the community as a whole. It was only fitting she received her final goodbye from our facility dog, Emmie! Enjoy retirement, Pam!

Earlier this month and alongside board members Martin Nitzken, Gracie Parish, and Chelsea Granville Reed, we hosted our 2024 Beer and Banter. It was an excellent night of networking and connecting with community members about the work we do at FCP! Special shoutout to West Sixth NuLu for letting us use their space!

Today is #GivingTuesday! Your donation will help us continue to provide educational materials for clients in Greater Louisville Head Start, provide supplies for new/expectant parents in HANDS, put on Healthy Family Nights in School-Based Services, buy dog treats for our facility dog Emmie, who helps countless children in our Child Advocacy Center, and provide opportunities for the children and families in Visitation & Parenting Services to work towards being reunited. Continuing to #highlight our new Board members! Gena Redmon Harris is the wife of Jonathan Harris, mother of three boys, grandmother of two, and has fostered many children in crisis. She is retired from Louisville Metro Government after 27 1/2 years of service, and is currently pastoring the Hope International AOH Church of God and serving as Chair of the LMHA board of Commissioners. Gena is now a proud member of the Family and Children’s place Board of Directors! Her main reason for being on the board is: “This Agency brings hope to the Louisville community by supporting families: a plight I have given my life to for many years, so I am honored to be a part of this incredible work.” Please join us in welcoming Gena to our Board!

Pam's 30-year journey with Family & Children's Place, including 10 years as CEO, has transformed countless lives. As she retires later this year, we thank her for her visionary leadership and dedication to our mission. She will be greatly missed!
