A full-service interior design studio offering creative thinking & strategic solutions for inspired hospitality spaces.

关于我们

FAM Design was founded in 2020 by architect Frank Mataipule and interior designer Megan Freckelton. With more than 34 years of combined experience in architecture and interior design, our diverse portfolio includes both commercial and residential work with an emphasis on hospitality and residential design. This experience allows us to offer our clients thoughtful and strategic design solutions. Our approach at FAM is simple: Work hard and have fun. Services offered: Interior Design and Architecture; Interior space planning and programming; Conceptual and schematic design; Brand development; Material specifications, detailing and documentation; Furniture, fixture, art and accessory specifications, sourcing and procurement; Construction and bid documents; Consultant coordination; Construction observation and documentation; Architectural or interior design peer review. The design process should be fun for all parties involved; does this mean we aren’t serious about all of this, not at all, we get down to business. One of the largest architecture firms in Colorado brought Frank And Megan (FAM) together where they spent 13 years and 12 years respectively, leading and co-managing the design of various restaurant concepts, hotel and resort projects. In 2017, Frank and Megan accepted in-house co-Design Director roles with a rapidly expanding national restaurant group recognized by Fast Company as one of the most innovative companies in the world. There, they established and grew a design department to support its growth in the restaurant and hotel sector.

A private dining room is often an important (and profitable) part of the program for both hotel and restaurant clients. A well-designed PDR in hospitality spaces shares the same core principles as a residential dining space - both are about ambiance, comfort, flexibility, and an experience beyond just a meal. In this home, we again leaned into our hospitality design roots to create a personal and curated space tailored to the homeowner's love of hosting. Formal dining rooms are an opportunity to create a unique space and separate mood from other parts of the home, similar to private dining rooms in hospitality spaces.?Thoughtful layouts, mixed materials, deep hues and layered textures create interest, and warm lighting entices guests to stay a while.

The process. This restaurant was designed to provide an experience that feels like a holiday. A breezy, light space celebrating Joie de vivre, patrons experience an elevated?but casual environment while being transported to a coastal locale. Starting with hand sketches, then onto a volume study, lastly a 3D visualization, we review the functionality, ensure each design decision aligns with the vision and in the end is a space ready to be enjoyed. More rosè? #interiordesign #hospitalitydesign

It's a busy weekend for New Orleans. As an estimated 125,000 visitors descend on the city for a festive weekend, reminding us of all the fun we had working on this historic hotel property on Frenchmen Street. The 27-room full renovation embraced the eclecticism and energy of the neighborhood. Go sports!

We love to use hospitality design thinking to enhance residential spaces. The development of this space showcases how an intimate, moody environment and highly detailed elements frequently used in boutique hotels can seamlessly blend into everyday living. Our goal was to create a space that not only functions for the homeowners living style, but also creates a customized, unique kitchen that reflects the clients personality. Earthy terra cotta, lacquered high gloss cabinets, interesting stone, sculptural lighting and seating provides a sophisticated space that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Megan Freckelton recently had the opportunity to visit with one of our favorite furniture lines,?iSiMAR, at their factory in Spain. Their offerings have always been high on the list for us at FAM. While there, she also checked out the Feria Hábitat València furniture and lighting fair - filled with new and amazing designs. Check out some of the photos below. Huge shout out to Michelle Jones at HD Furnishings and iSiMAR for the invite. It was great to travel and connect with other interior designers from across the U.S. in the beautiful country of Spain. #interiordesign #FeriaHabitatValencia
