Falcon Engineering, Inc. (Falcon) is a Woman-Owned business founded by President and CEO Margaret Robertson, PG. Formerly Tierra of NC, the company began its operation offering geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing as its core services. In 2008, Tierra of NC was rebranded and named Falcon – expanding its services to also include special inspections and later on environmental consulting. With over 20 years of dedication, we continue to pledge professionalism, quality, and responsiveness to our clientele throughout the southern and eastern portions of the United States. Utilizing innovative approaches and pioneering technologies, the diversity and experience of our leadership team has enabled us to compile an extensive project portfolio encompassing very large complex projects in the commercial, industrial, private/public sector, and transportation markets. Service Lines: Geotechnical Engineering Testing and Inspections Environmental Services Laboratory Services AASHTO Accredited Laboratory - For the past 20 years, Falcon has been operating an in-house, state-of-the-art, AASHTO accredited laboratory; providing physical testing of soil, concrete, aggregate, asphalt and building materials. The lab is routinely audited in these fields through AASHTO’s Materials Reference Laboratory (AMRL) Assessment Program. The Laboratory is also certified with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). In addition to the in-house laboratory, Falcon can provide mobile, on-site laboratory services anywhere in the state or region.

Welcome to the team, Tyler! Tyler joined Falcon as an Engineering Technician with five years of experience in soils & concrete testing. In the short amount of time Tyler has been with Falcon he has obtained his ICC – Soils certification and is working toward obtaining his ICC – Reinforced Concrete certification. With previous experience working in the AEC industry, Tyler already holds his ACI/NCDOT – Concrete Field Testing certification and Nuclear Gauge certification. We are happy to have Tyler on board and look forward to his contributions at Falcon!

Each year we present the Soaring Falcon Award to an employee who goes above and beyond in their role. This year we were pleased to present the award to Dana Goodnight. Falcon’s Environmental Services Manager, Christopher Burkhardt, PWS, who serves as the Workshop Coordinator for the North Carolina Association of Environmental Professionals, recently organized registration and logistics for the Rare Plant & Natural Communities Workshop in Uwharrie National Forest. This full-day field trip was led by the North Carolina Heritage (NHP) (North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources) and focused on identifying and understanding the habitats of the state-protected Georgia aster and federally listed Schweinitz's sunflower. Participants also had the chance to observe several rare yellow pitcher plants and unique natural communities and wetland ecosystems. Along with a valuable educational experience, the event raised over $1,500 for the North Carolina Natural Heritage Program! Thank you NHP for all you do!
