Fairfield Engineering students and faculty showcased groundbreaking research at the Biomedical Engineering Society Annual Meeting, presenting projects on synthetic data in research and pediatric limb discrepancies.

The models used during the simulation are the result of an innovative collaboration between Fairfield Egan and the School of Engineering and Computing, driven by a surge in enrollment in the DNP-Nurse Anesthesia program, which has recently expanded to Fairfield’s Austin, Texas campus. “This collaboration is important because it bridges the gap between engineering and healthcare, fostering interdisciplinary learning and innovation,” said Susan Freudzon, PhD, professor of the practice of biomedical engineering.

IQS University, Montserrat Monastery, and an incredible solar farm were all on the list of spots to explore.

ICYMI: The School of Engineering and Computing has announced a donation of $1.1 million from long-time donor, the Earl W. and Hildagunda A. Brinkman Private Charitable Foundation. This generous funding is in honor of the late Earl Brinkman, father of Fairfield alumna and foundation trustee Ellie Hawthorne ’85, MA’88.

A proud milestone for Fairfield University’s School of Engineering and Computing! This semester, we established the Connecticut Delta chapter of Tau Beta Pi, the nation’s oldest engineering honor society. After years of dedication, Fairfield was officially granted chapter status at the annual Tau Beta Pi convention. This achievement highlights our commitment to academic excellence and engineering integrity.

Tau Beta Pi officers Maeve O'Connell '25 and Matthew Manduca '25, alongside advisor Susan Freudzon, PhD, traveled to South Dakota ?? for the Tau Beta Pi Annual Convention. Founded in 1885, Tau Beta Pi is the oldest engineering honor society in the U.S., recognizing excellence and integrity in engineering students. We’re excited to welcome new members and engineering alumni to our chapter of this prestigious honor society.

David Camayo Ocampo '25 attended the 50th Annual SHPE National Convention in Anaheim, California. "My biggest takeaway from attending the convention was the importance of networking and building strong industry connections, especially within the aerospace industry. Being surrounded by diverse professionals who shared their own stories and successes was incredibly motivating and reminded me how important a community as well as mentorship is in achieving one's goals."
