?? Another CTA Update ?? On March 2, 2025, the Treasury Department announced it will not enforce penalties for Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reporting under current deadlines. A proposed rulemaking will narrow the rule to foreign reporting companies only. ?? An interim rule is expected on March 21, 2025, but details on timing and public comments are unknown. ?? Federal Court Strikes Down FTC’s Vehicle Shopping Rule ?? On January 27, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals vacated the FTC’s CARS Rule, ruling that the agency failed to follow proper rule-making procedures. While intended to combat deceptive practices, the rule would have added regulatory hurdles, increasing costs, and complexity for both dealers and consumers. With the rule now sent back to the FTC—under newly appointed Chairman Andrew Ferguson—its future remains uncertain.
