Happy Presidents’ Day, Fairborn! Did you know that Ohio is known as the “Mother of Presidents”? Seven United States presidents were born in Ohio, and an eighth called it home. Several were even born right here in Southwest Ohio. Can you name all eight? They are Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, James A. Garfield, Benjamin Harrison, William McKinley, William Howard Taft, Warren G. Harding, and William Henry Harrison, who was born in Virginia but proudly called Ohio home. #PresidentsDay

We’re celebrating Valentine’s Day all week because we want to say how much we LOVE serving the Fairborn community. We’ve been at it since 1924, and we are looking forward to celebrating our centennial with you later this year. Fairborn Cement Company for generations has supported jobs and Ohio’s economy while contributing to the construction of better schools for our kids, emergency response facilities, homes, and the roads and bridges that connect us. Thank you for allowing us to serve the Fairborn area as one of the few remaining American-owned cement producers.

We love providing educational tours of Fairborn Cement Company’s facilities to Ohio teachers. Along the tour, people are often surprised to learn we don’t just produce cement - we also participate in conservation efforts, including reclaiming old quarry areas and turning them into pollinator habitats.

Congrats to all who correctly guessed that 95 million metric tons of cement are produced in the United States annually. From paving our roads to insulating our homes, cement plays an integral role in our everyday lives. This May, Fairborn Cement will celebrate 100 years of producing cement right here in the Miami Valley.

It was 74 years ago this week that the signs all changed and people began to acquaint themselves with the newly named town of Fairborn with the merger of Osborne and Fairfield. As we begin a new year and will soon celebrate our 100th anniversary, the Fairborn Cement Company is grateful to all those who have worked so hard these many years to build this great community we call home. Happy New Year!
