Superintendent Dr. Meinert and local community employers recently had the opportunity to get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the Army National Guard Aviation Unit on Fort Wainwright during a "Boss Lift." Sponsored by the Alaska Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, guests were introduced to the Aviation unit, learned about service member duties, and had the unique opportunity to fly over Fairbanks and North Pole in a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter. The impressive flight included flyovers of several district schools, UAF campus, Fort Knox mine, and the downtown area. Principal Jarrod Decker of Watershed Charter School had the opportunity to connect with former elementary students who have since grown up and joined the Army National Guard. Thank you to the welcoming and professional service members and pilots who facilitated the event and conducted a successful flight! As a district that serves many military-connected families, we recognize and appreciate the sacrifices made for our community and country. FNSBSD proudly supports the Guard and Reserve, and all members of the U.S. Armed Services. The ESGR Boss Lift event provides reservists with the opportunity to share a military experience with their civilian employers, helping them gain a better understanding of their airmen’s combat-ready mobility commitment.
