In less than two-and-a-half years, six of the nine magistrate judge positions in the District of Colorado have or will have been filled with new judicial officers, including the imminent retirement of Chief Magistrate Judge Michael Hegarty in January 2025. In this CLE presentation, Judge Hegarty will provide his perspective on the future of settlement conferences gleaned from a survey of current magistrate judges, and from statistics/trends across the district. He will also discuss best practices for attorneys and clients engaging in settlement conferences, among other topics.
