There were a lot of nodding heads during the #IPPC2024 session on donor management, recruitment and retention practices. Thanks to moderator Peter Jaworski for guiding a fantastic discussion with Gerry Gogarty, Zsófia Bacsadi, Britta Diebel, Oksana Muliarchuk and Martin Moll on building a stronger donor community. It was great to see such a focus on why people choose to donate plasma and what drives their commitment to it. As Britta Diebel shared, “When people come to the donation center, they are part of a family. They are superheroes. We travel with them on their journey, and they are the best ambassadors we can imagine." Our hearts also go out to the incredible plasma donors in Ukraine at this difficult time. Oksana Muliarchuk also shared a powerful message, “donors have a huge social responsibility in Ukraine right now. I’m proud of everyone who is donating. Our very own Peter Jaworski had a chance to meet the Minister of Health for Greece, Adonis Georgiadis, to discuss a new bill to allow for paid plasma collections in Greece. This is great news for patients who rely on plasma derived therapeutics around the world!
Adonis Georgiadis, the Minister of Health for Greece, announced today that his government will introduce a bill to change the regulations to permit more plasma collection (using donor compensation). Thank you Alexander Skouras and Yannis Kalantzakis for giving me an opportunity to thank the Minister in person.
