When hotels simultaneously commission both photo stills and video production, it often results in a clash over time and resources. However, Factor Fifty has developed a unique collaboration with the world-leading hotel photography agency, Hospitality Photographic, ensuring our hotel clients receive maximum exposure and cost savings by avoiding the need to hire talent or models for separate shoots. Typically, interior hotel shots require distinct lighting setups: photographers favour flash, which is unsuitable for video. To address this, we’ve innovated our approach, integrating continuous photographic lighting enhanced with bespoke battery-powered video fill lighting. This adaptation eliminates the need for redundant lighting setups, effectively streamlining the process.     We recently had the opportunity to create a brand video for a hotel that led to a significant increase in bookings from Chinese guests. Through research, we discovered that many Chinese visitors to the USA and European cities prefer to stay near luxury shops, where they can purchase designer items that are heavily taxed in China. To leverage this insight, we designed the opening scene of the video to feature a model walking into the hotel with various designer shopping bags, highlighting the proximity of luxury shopping options. This subtle yet powerful visual cue effectively showcased the hotel’s prime location for shopping enthusiasts, leading to a noticeable uptick in reservations. This project not only underscores the importance of understanding guest habits but also demonstrates how strategic videography can enhance a hotel’s appeal. We’re eager to apply these insights to help more hotels attract and engage their target audiences through compelling video content.
