What We Do Face to Face has provided essential support for marginalized young people since 1972. We began as a volunteer-run walk-in crisis counseling and reproductive health clinic for youth. In 1994, at the request of the State of Minnesota and Ramsey County, we opened SafeZone, our drop-in center for youth experiencing homelessness. Today we continue to support youth ages 11-24 through six core service areas: 1) medical clinic including health education, 2) mental health, 3) housing, 4) education and employment, 5) youth justice, and 6) community programs. All services areas include comprehensive wraparound services and with a relational and principle-based approach. No other organization in Ramsey County provides the breadth of services for youth people that we do, making us uniquely able to respond to the multiple challenges young people are navigating. Our Mission & Vision Our mission is to advance economic and health equity for youth while providing support, opportunities, and access to resources as they build on their strengths and achieve their aspirations. Our vision is that all youth are valued for who they are and realize their potential. Programs Our programs address the inequities youth face, combat systemic racism and other forms of oppression, and help young people as they pursue their aspirations despite the barriers they experience. We walk alongside youth as they heal from trauma, build stability, and participate meaningfully in their communities. Staff are guided by evidence-based principles which begins with the perspective that youth are on a journey. This means we are trauma-informed, non-judgmental, and work to reduce harm. By holding these principles, we can build a trusting relationship that allows us to focus on young people’s strengths and opportunities for positive development. Through all of this, we approach youth as whole beings through a youth-focused collaborative system of support.

How can so much value get packed into one hour? The Midway Chamber of Commerce, that's how! On Wednesday we got to hear from former Mayor of Minneapolis, R.T. Rybak. He shared the importance of sharing resources between St Paul and Minneapolis and to look at them as the same entity--not two opposing cities. We celebrated Face to Face Health & Counseling for winning nonprofit of the month. It was a pleasure hearing Hanna Getachew-Kreusser MA share how the nonprofit supports youth with opportunities and resources to advance economic and health equity. Lastly, I was honored to accept the nominee award for Associated Bank for large business leadership of the year. Thank you Chad Kulas for continuing to pack so much value into these luncheons. This week, we testified at the Housing Infrastructure Bond Committee meeting about our request for funding of our permanent supportive housing project for youth experiencing homelessness. Permanent supportive housing provides a stable place to live WITH essential services that address the root causes of homelessness. Offering youth housing WITH services improves their well-being, helps them thrive, and supports their goals for the future. We’re grateful for the leadership of Representative Liz Lee, who is sponsoring the direct appropriation for this critical initiative. The Dakota County Elks Lodge #2832 recently showed up in a big way, donating $2,000 worth of essential items to Face to Face youth! ?? Their generous Elks National Foundation #BeaconGrant provided hygiene supplies, underwear, pack-n-plays, diapers, and more. We're so grateful for their support, and especially to Carla Osness Tappainer, who is also the MN American Legion Membership Director, for her commitment to connecting Face to Face with other community groups. This week, we're inspired by the incredible youth group at Hamline United Methodist Church in St. Paul, who are showing us what true leadership looks like. These young leaders, planning their annual Mardi Gras Pancake Brunch to support their mission trip, decided to dedicate a portion of their fundraising efforts to honor Sam. They chose to support Face to Face, a place where Sam gave their time and talents to our Youth Leadership Council. These young leaders remind us of the power of youth-driven initiatives and their ability to create positive change.
