Advancing economic and health equity for youth, ages 11-24.

关于我们

What We Do Face to Face has provided essential support for marginalized young people since 1972. We began as a volunteer-run walk-in crisis counseling and reproductive health clinic for youth. In 1994, at the request of the State of Minnesota and Ramsey County, we opened SafeZone, our drop-in center for youth experiencing homelessness. Today we continue to support youth ages 11-24 through six core service areas: 1) medical clinic including health education, 2) mental health, 3) housing, 4) education and employment, 5) youth justice, and 6) community programs. All services areas include comprehensive wraparound services and with a relational and principle-based approach. No other organization in Ramsey County provides the breadth of services for youth people that we do, making us uniquely able to respond to the multiple challenges young people are navigating. Our Mission & Vision Our mission is to advance economic and health equity for youth while providing support, opportunities, and access to resources as they build on their strengths and achieve their aspirations. Our vision is that all youth are valued for who they are and realize their potential. Programs Our programs address the inequities youth face, combat systemic racism and other forms of oppression, and help young people as they pursue their aspirations despite the barriers they experience. We walk alongside youth as they heal from trauma, build stability, and participate meaningfully in their communities. Staff are guided by evidence-based principles which begins with the perspective that youth are on a journey. This means we are trauma-informed, non-judgmental, and work to reduce harm. By holding these principles, we can build a trusting relationship that allows us to focus on young people’s strengths and opportunities for positive development. Through all of this, we approach youth as whole beings through a youth-focused collaborative system of support.

  • ?? #MotivationMonday ??: "I had to learn to dream beyond my circumstances." –Dr. Tommy Watson (A speaker, author, and coach who experienced homelessness his whole childhood yet earned a Doctorate degree and built a successful career.) ???? Dr. Watson recently shared his story with Face to Face youth and staff, reflecting boundless potential that inspired all of us to think beyond our immediate crisis to remember our power and choose who we want to be in the world. ??? The impact at SafeZone was immediate: ?? A young poet submitted her first book to a publisher. ?? A youth joined a state advisory committee on justice. ?? Both secured mentorship with Dr. Watson himself. ?? Staff reported it was the best training they're ever received. Who inspires you? Who should we invite to speak to youth next? Comment below! ?? Thank you Dr. Watson for being who you are! ??

Face to Face staff and youth were featured in an MPR article about this year's #Homeless Day on the Hill event: https://bit.ly/3POmTGs The article shares exactly why it's so important we continue to support youth as they work to gain and keep stable #housing: "Four out of 10 people experiencing #homelessness are children. Sales said one in four adults who are #unsheltered were homeless when they were younger." #HousingFirst #HousingFirstWorks #HousingMatters #HDOTH

  • Join Face to Face and the National Low Income Housing Coalition in signing a petition to urge Congress to stop the anticipated firings of at least half of all U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) employees. Sign here:?https://lnkd.in/eMS-H7g5 ? Why does this matter to Face to Face youth and families? ? Communities across the country, including ours, rely on HUD funding for critical housing and homelessness programs. As a direct consequence of decimating HUD, homeless shelters will close their doors, communities will stop construction on new projects to build housing and community centers, households receiving rental assistance will face immediate rent increases and evictions, homebuyers will be unable to close on their loans, and communities, families, and small businesses impacted by disasters will be unable to rebuild. ? It's more important than ever to use our collective power to do what we can to stop injustice. 15,409 people have joined us in using our voices to protect our communities and families. Add your voice TODAY:?https://lnkd.in/eMS-H7g5

  • Thank you Tigerrs (Transgender, Intersex, Gender-Expansive Revolutionary Resources & Services) for sharing this invitation from Sam's family: "One of the candlelight vigils for Sam Nordquist that his friends are organizing was rescheduled for Friday, 2/21/25 from 6-7pm because of the frigid temperatures Monday night. It will take place at Harriet Island Regional Park in St. Paul, MN. Please dress warmly as it's bound to still be very cold." Need context?
