Congratulations to Isabella Medici, who completed her summer internship here at Fabrisonic. Bella is an Industrial and Systems engineering student at The Ohio State University, and we had a great time teaching her all about UAM. “I had a great time working for Fabrisonic in their 2024 Summer Internship Program. I was new to ultrasonic additive manufacturing (UAM), as well as CNC machining, but I was quickly trained on CAM programming, CNC milling and the ultrasonic welding process. Throughout the summer, I assisted in the building and testing of a SonicLayer1600 machine, made and tested heat exchangers, recorded and edited training videos, and designed and built a custom demonstration part. I loved the ever-changing, hands-on environment; it helped push me out of my comfort zone and gain many new skills. We had a great visit by Allie Kunkel and Chelsea Cummings, who are part of the The Barnes Global Advisors. We made challenge coins for their team, which also function as bottle openers. An easy way to demonstrate the hybrid nature of Fabrisonic LLC's #ultrasonicadditivemanufacturing (UAM) process. We look forward to partnering with them in the future to advance the #additivemanufacturing industry.
Tackling another fun project last week with DfAM expert Chelsea Cummings as we had the opportunity to take a peek inside Fabrisonic LLC to learn more about their patented Ultrasonic Additive Manufacturing technology (UAM)! We reimagined the design of our TBGA bottle opener specific to this technology using a multi-material approach and are in the works of producing a behind-the-scenes video of how it was made using their unique hybrid technology.
