In Kenya, an estimated 150 to 200 tonnes of textile waste are generated daily, equating to approximately 55,000 to 73,000 tonnes annually. This substantial accumulation poses significant health and environmental challenges, including pollution and the release of harmful substances into ecosystems https://lnkd.in/dGC5KMe5 ECO2LIBRIUM Company is actively addressing this pressing issue through a comprehensive and sustainable approach: - Collection and Sorting: Partnering with organizations like Fabricure, we have collected a huge number of fabric waste from Kenyan landfills. - Shredding and Composting: The collected textiles are shredded and composted to create biodegradable compost that enriches soil health. - Regenerative Agriculture: This nutrient-rich compost is utilized in regenerative farming practices, enhancing soil fertility, increasing crop yields, and promoting sustainable agriculture in rural Kenya. By converting textile waste into valuable agricultural inputs, ECO2LIBRIUM Company not only mitigates environmental hazards but also contributes to the development of a circular economy. This initiative exemplifies how innovative solutions can transform waste management challenges into opportunities for ecological and community advancement.

Today, I’m honored to moderate a conversation on "Driving an Inclusive Green Transition: Closing the Climate Girls’ Gap" as part of #UNGA79. Climate change continues to create significant barriers for girls and women worldwide, limiting their access to education and?economic opportunities. In this session, I will chat with climate innovators Clarabeth Concaret of Fabricure, @Maria Marshall 15-year old climate activist, Pamela Morgan Chair of Zonta International and Kitty van der Heijden, Deputy Executive Director of Partnerships, UNICEF. Together, we will explore how investing in girls and equipping them with the skills to thrive in the green economy isn’t just about equity—it’s essential for creating a sustainable and inclusive future. In the afternoon, I will?be facilitating a session in partnership with Integrate Health and Last Mile Health on Gender Equity in the Community Health Workforce.??We will discuss how to address the pervasive problem of unpaid labor of women in Africa's community health workforce during a sideline event at the Clinton Global Initiative 2024 Annual Meeting. We will close the day with an intimate gathering of Aspen Global Innovators Group partners and global health leaders for a private roundtable as we develop a global coordinating platform centering the expertise of frontline workers who are responding to the black maternal health crisis in the US.. Black women in the U.S. are 3X more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than their White?counterparts. With the maternal mortality rate in the US higher than any other high-income nation, we’re bringing together leaders across sectors to scale solutions to this crisis. There is no universe, in which this is ok. Africa is not our dumpster. What do we do? 1. Clean up & ban trash exports 2. Make less and better 3.
