As we step into October, we're reflecting on some exciting shifts in the fashion industry, driven by two recently passed U.S. policies that align perfectly with our mission here at FABRIC. In this month's newsletter, we're diving into how?California’s Responsible Textile Recovery Act?and the?Biden-Harris Administration’s Consumer Protection Initiative?are setting new standards for sustainability and ethical manufacturing.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?
These policies represent significant steps toward a future where fashion is more transparent, accountable, and circular—principles that have been at the heart of FABRIC since day one. With the Responsible Textile Recovery Act set to enforce garment recycling programs in 2027, brands will soon be held responsible for their products long after they leave store shelves. Meanwhile, the Consumer Protection Initiative’s crackdown on unsafe labor practices and environmental violations promises better protections for both workers and the planet. CURIOUS??In our blog post, we break down how these laws will transform the fashion landscape and how FABRIC is already leading the charge.
The first step toward making these policies a reality is retaining a strong, skilled domestic workforce, and we’re doing our part to make that happen. We’re excited to announce our upcoming National Apprenticeship Week (November 17-23) and an?Open House at FABRIC?on November 16th. If you’re interested in our grant-funded apprenticeship and mentorship certification program (support provided by Jobs For The Future) in partnership with?ISAIC, which begins in January 2025, we encourage you to stop by to learn more about this incredible opportunity.
Together, we’re shaping a more sustainable, responsible fashion future!
