Forbes just named Fireflies one of the Top Startup Employers of 2025. This was a pleasant surprise because we don’t talk much about hiring. We don’t market our open roles aggressively. And we intentionally keep the team small and hire slowly. Most startups at our stage are 500+ employees. We work hard to stay under 150. Dunbar’s Law says that’s the max number of social connections you can maintain—and we’ve found it makes for a stronger, tighter-knit team. Fireflies has been remote from day one—long before the pandemic made it a thing. Lately, a lot of tech companies are forcing people back into offices, saying remote work kills productivity. And yes, if you hire the wrong people, it absolutely can. I recently visited one of our teams overseas. Rode the local metro. It took 4 hours round trip just to get to work. That’s brutal. And it made me realize—so many people at other companies are showing up to work already exhausted. The problem isn’t remote work. It’s how you hire and who you hire. When you build a team of self-motivated, accountable people, they get stuff done—whether they’re in an office or not. It’s not a perfect system. Some people fly under the radar and do the bare minimum when not monitored in person. But we want to optimize for trust, ownership, and high standards than force everyone back in to the office. We're fortunate to have built a diverse team in 20+ countries and 40+ cities. Oh and yes we’re hiring :) If you want to work on some of the most exciting things in, AI check us out. I'm actively looking for people who have a passion for PLG to join our marketing and customer success teams. We also have several engineering roles available.
