?? November is?Epilepsy Awareness Month, and we’re proud to join the conversation by sharing an excerpt from?AJ on Startups?featuring our Founder, Dr. Rachel Kuperman. In this clip, Rachel sheds light on a challenge faced by many families and healthcare providers: differentiating between?Absence seizures?and symptoms of inattentive-type ADHD. With overlapping behaviors like “zoning out,” it’s no surprise that diagnosis can be complex—but the impact of getting it right is life-changing. ?? At Eysz, we’re on a mission to make it easier to identify brain disorders like Childhood Absence Epilepsy early and accurately. Awareness and innovation go hand in hand to make a difference for patients and their families. ?? Watch the clip below and join us in spreading awareness this November. “[seizures] can happen 30 plus times per day, at minimum…and the challenge is that frequently these kids look like they have ADHD because they tune out for a while. [So] they can get missed, and/or diagnosed as having inattentive type ADHD. [ Here’s a 20s clip of an absence seizure: https://lnkd.in/gtczdfgz ] It’s the most common pediatric epilepsy, [and] makes up about 20% of all pediatric epilepsy. About 300,000 kids in the US are currently diagnosed.” Watch Rachel Kuperman, Founder and CEO of Eysz, share more details about Childhood Absence Epilepsy (CAE), and the characteristics of the condition that make it challenging for parents and physicians to identify.
