Unlock visionary leadership and human potential through the science of system thinking

关于我们

There is a different way to manage complexity and unleash human potential in your organization. We are a nonprofit executive education and coaching organization that collaborates with leadership at all levels to reimagine what is possible. Using a novel approach to system thinking, we teach a way to see and think differently about complex systems, a way that lives at the intersection of natural laws, a respect for humanity, and proven operational excellence principles. - We help you find simplicity in complexity and rapidly identify the key strategic levers of change in your organizational systems. - We go beyond the common strategies of process improvement and process stability, instead focusing on sustainable system improvement and system stability. - We build on the premise that humans have unlimited potential, and that everyone yearns to make a dignified meaningful contribution to the world in their work. - Our approach is rooted in the organic laws of systems found in nature. Our work is modeled on the very same natural systems to create complex learning organizations that are self-organizing, self-diagnosing and self-adjusting in constantly changing environments. - Our framework teaches a common language which helps grows a dynamic, adaptive, problem-solving culture where everyone is engaged, innovating, learning and thriving. Our logo is inspired by Japanese philosophical principles. The petal-like shapes symbolize Kenshō (見性), representing the realization of one's true nature. The interconnected petals reflect Musubi (結び), symbolizing the deep connections and relationships in life. The symmetrical design embodies Wa (和), highlighting harmony and balance. Together, these elements create a balanced and meaningful logo that emphasizes mindfulness, clarity, interconnectedness, and harmony.

?? is a magic number. Human beings can generally hold 5-9 (an average of 7) bits of new information in their short term memory. It's known as Miller's Law -- named for the Princeton psychology professor who discovered it. Consider the implications for fast-paced, complex environments like hospitals or factories with a high mix of patients or products. One of the ways we can better cope with floods of data coming at us every work day is through "chunking" information into concepts. For example, as an English speaker, if you see the letters: ?? ?? ?? ?? ??, you process them as 5 separate bits of information. But if you see the letters: ?? ?? ?? ?? ??, you can process them instantly as a single concept. How can we chunk the flood of data coming at us in so many workplaces? In the same way we learn to read (chunking letters together into instantly recognizable concepts), we can develop commonly held standards and rules that reduce the heavy cognitive load of problem solving. There is enormous power in aligning an organization around a highly specified, proven set of rules - the "HOW"- for ??????????????????, ???????????????????? and ?????????????????? work. Like the ?? ?????????? ???? ?????? articulated in "Decoding the DNA of the Toyota Production System" by Steven Spear and Kent Bowen. The Rules in Use are like the ABC's - the language - of organic, high-performing, high-speed learning organizations. ?? Delivering healthcare as MUSIC (part 1) ?? Gone are the soloists, the rare doctor traveling house to house with their simple bag of tools and the knowledge that could be learned by one person in one lifetime. Now there's a massive orchestra of astonishing instruments available to us when we are sick. Only the music they produce together is frustratingly discordant and disconnected. Fixing or redesigning the individual instruments (the latest in tech!) or drilling the performance of the horn section (siloed process improvement) won't change the painful cacophony in the concert hall. What’s needed is ??????????????????????????—connecting them to a common baton (true north or the ideal), coordinating them with the same musical piece (a common way to design, perform and improve work at every level, system-wide). This is what we do--help organizations find their systemness. And make exhilarating music. "???????????? ???????? ?????? ??????????, ?????? ???????????????????? ???? ????????????????????????." - Lao Tzu We believe organizations can mimic nature. We have seen work designed in a way that allows humans to work at a steady, calm pace, confident that what they are doing is needed and meaningful. Supported by intentional structures that respond immediately to the problems that inevitably crop up every day all day long. We think there is a more organic way to work, lead and organize-- one that is healthier for humans AND the bottom line. eyestosee.com ???????? ???? ?????? ???? ?? ??????????????????. ?????? ?????????????? ???? ???? ?????????? ?????????????????? ?????? ?????????????? ???????????????????? ???? ???????????????? ????? ?????????????? ???? ?????????-???????????????? ???????????? ??????????????? ???? ????????????????.

Eyes to See supports the Future of People at Work! Join us this summer at the Future of People at Work Symposium in Salt Lake City, June 26-27. This is a place for anyone who has PEOPLE who WORK and want a FUTURE. We know we need to break out of our silos (industrial, organizational, methodological, etc.) to solve society's biggest problems - like how to build work cultures and organizational structures that allow humans to thrive, learn, grow, and give their best with passion. The Future of People at Work is an exciting effort to do just that. It's sponsored by 7 different nonprofits. It brings smart problem solvers into a space together to look at shared problems from wider angles. And it includes a tour one of the best examples of a high performing learning organization: O.C. Tanner. See you there? https://www.fpwork.org/ #FutureOfWork #PeopleFirst #LearningOrganizations #ContinuousImprovement

Leadership isn’t a title or a rank. Think of it as a force that moves through a system, showing up where it’s needed most. In #LeadershipandtheNewScience Margaret Wheatley challenges the outdated machine-model of organizations—rigid, linear, obsessed with control. Instead, she describes organizations as living systems, where leadership emerges through connection, adaptability, and shared purpose. Jill Janov, cited in Wheatley’s work, puts it simply: leadership is a behavior, not a role. It isn’t confined to titles—it arises wherever it’s needed. The strongest organizations cultivate the conditions for leadership to surface dynamically, rather than hoarding power at the top. Systems that chase stability often suffocate their own evolution. Nature doesn’t work that way. Resilient ecosystems—biological or organizational—thrive by allowing leadership to shift fluidly in response to change. Wheatley’s insights cut deep: the organizations that endure aren’t the ones that control best, but the ones that adapt fastest.

We are a learning organization, and we THRIVE on learning with others. A warm "thank you" to the bright and curious participants in our 2-day workshop at the Lean Summit this week! Five countries represented. Six industries. Twelve organizations. Principles that apply to all. We explored the synchronicity of metronomes, the murmuring of birds and the system intelligence to be found in playing with Legos. We put ourselves in the shoes of a manager tasked with solving a complex problem. We drew heavily on the work of Steve Spear and Kent Bowen (Decoding the DNA of the Toyota Production System). The takeaway? Organizations, like nature, thrive when they self-organize, self-detect, and self-adjust. And humans thrive inside those kinds of organizations. The good news: there is a pragmatic, relatively fast way to get there, thanks to brilliant research on exemplar organizations that have paved the way. #LeanSummit2025 #UniversalPrinciples #NaturalSystems #ContinuousImprovement #Leadership #Lean
