March is Women's History Month and we're proud to celebrate women's achievements in American history and in eye banking and cornea transplantation. Did you know, the first Executive Director of the first U.S. eye bank (The Eye-Bank for Sight Restoration) was a woman? Aida Breckinridge was an advocate for the gift of sight and a superstar fundraiser who obtained the support of influential people to get the Eye-Bank's start-up funding and to spread the word about eye donation. She also tackled difficulties in securing and transporting donated corneas, put into use eye-donor pledge forms, and created the first educational brochure on eye donation. Learn more about Aida and many other trailblazing women in eye banking, cornea transplantation, and ophthalmology on our website. https://lnkd.in/gpyX4UQz
